  • FA Starting Pitcher #46
Brad Keller has elected free agency.
Keller has the service time to elect an outright to Triple-A, and he did just that after the Red Sox made that move Monday. The 29-year-old right-hander will now be free to sign with a new club, but he’s likely looking at a minor-league team if he signs with another MLB organization
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Juan Soto hit a game-winning double in the 10th inning to give the Yankees a 2-1 win over the Red Sox on Thursday.
Soto went the other way to score Gleyber Torres and give New York the extra-inning win. Soto also drew a walk because of course he did, and he’s now up to 101 RBI. The 25-year-old has been sensational in his first year with the Yankees, and MLB teams should be salivating over the chance to potentially sign him this winter. The good ones will be, anyway.
  • BOS Catcher #28
Danny Jansen hit a solo homer in an extra-inning loss to the Yankees on Thursday.
Jansen provided the only run of the game for the Red Sox with a solo homer off Nestor Cortes to tie the score at 1-1 in the fifth. Jansen also drew a walk, and it’s helped push his line with the Red Sox to a still unappealing .197/.319/.295.
  • NYY Second Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres hit a leadoff homer in a win over the Red Sox on Thursday in 10 innings.
Torres also scored the winning run on a double in the 10th by Juan Soto, so he bookended the scoring. The 27-year-old has not been a big source of power this year with just 13 homers and 56 RBI, but maybe this blast will lead to a surge to end the season. It’s doubtful, but it’s possible.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #64
Cooper Criswell allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings of work, but he didn’t qualify for a decision against the Red Sox on Thursday.
It’s the first time that Criswell has pitched into the sixth inning since July 23. The right-hander gave up a leadoff homer in the first to Gleyber Torres and then blanked the Yankees despite allowing three walks with four strikeouts. Criswell is still tough to trust as a fantasy option, but this was a solid outing. He’ll face the Rays next week if the rotation order remains the same.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #65
Nestor Cortes struck out nine over five innings of one-run baseball Thursday, but didn’t factor into the decision.
Cortes did walk three and battled some control issues at times, but he allowed just three hits and got out of any jams with quality swing-and-miss stuff. Over his last two outings, Cortes has allowed just one run over 9 1/3 innings, and it’s lowered his ERA to 3.90. He’s scheduled to face off against the Mariners on Thursday.
  • TB Third Baseman #13
Junior Caminero went 0-for-5 with a strikeout in a win over the Guardians on Thursday
Caminero is 0-for-9 since his three-hit game against the Phillies on Tuesday, and just 10-for-46 (.220) over the month of September. There aren’t long-term concerns with the 21-year-old, but he hasn’t exactly carried his prospect weight since joining the Rays. Don’t hold it against him too much in drafts next year.
  • TB Second Baseman #8
Brandon Lowe homered to help the Rays top the Guardians on Thursday.
Lowe gave the Rays a 1-0 lead with a solo blast in the first inning. He’s now up to 18 homers of the year and 51 RBI, and he’s slugging a strong .485 on the year. The .244 average and .322 OBP aren’t ideal, but they can play when you have the two numbers above.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #55
Richard Lovelady picked up a save with a scoreless inning Thursday against the Guardians.
Lovelady needed just six pitches to pick up the save. It’s just the second of the year for the 29-year-old, and the scoreless inning lowers his ERA to 4.75. Congrats to the millions who had Richard Lovelady in their fantasy lineup Thursday.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #32
Gavin Williams gave up three runs over 5 1/3 innings to get a loss to the Rays on Thursday.
He walked two, struck out five and allowed seven hits. Williams gave up a homer in the first to Brandon Lowe, and then two more runs were charged to him in the fourth. The other three-plus frames went fine, but it’s enough damage to see the 25-year-old see his ERA bump up to 5.23. He’s scheduled to square off against the Twins on Tuesday.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #44
Ryan Pepiot went two innings and allowed two runs in a no-decision against the Guardians on Thursday.
There was some concern that Pepiot might have picked up an injury, but the early report is that it was just Kevin Cash’s decision to pull the 27-year-old after 38 pitches. He wasn’t particularly effective in those two innings with four hits allowed, two walks and one strikeout. Pepiot is scheduled to face the Red Sox on Wednesday, but it seems plausible he may not make that start.
