Brenton Doyle is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against Atlanta.
Doyle will get a day of rest and deserves it considering just how good he’s been in 2024. He’ll take a seat while Jake Cave handles center field and hits sixth against Spencer Schwellenbach and Atlanta.
  • MIN Center Fielder #21

DaShawn Kiersey Jr., who went 2-for-13 in his major league debut last year, has won a spot on the Twins bench.
Kiersey appears to be beating out Austin Martin for a gig, even though all things being equal, the Twins would probably prefer the right-handed bat (Kiersey is a lefty) behind the likes of Trevor Larnach and Matt Wallner. The 27-year-old Kiersey is hitting .275/.375/.375 in 48 plate appearances this spring.
  • MIN Catcher #11
Mickey Gasper said Monday that his ankle is feeling better and that he’s been told he’s made the Twins roster.
Gasper was injured in a collision at second base Sunday and needed six stitches to treat his laceration. He’ll serve as a pinch-hitter, third catcher and maybe the second baseman against lefties while Brooks Lee is out.
  • FA Starting Pitcher #35
The Yankees are signing Ryan Yarbrough, who failed to make the Blue Jays, to a major league deal.
Yarbrough is a useful pitcher regardless, but he also had a little extra on high-80s fastball this spring. He can help the Yankees as a middle reliever and an occasional spot starter.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #39
Corbin Burnes will start Tuesday’s game against the Yankees.
That’s the fifth game of the season, and Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Brandon Pfaadt, and Eduardo Rodriguez wills tart the first four games of the year versus the Cubs. The reason Burnes will be held back is so that he can stay on a five-day pitching schedule. To stay on that schedule, he’ll throw a simulated game Wednesday. It’s a little irritating that fantasy managers will have to wait four games to see him on the mound, but it’s ultimately harmless.
  • ARI Second Baseman #6
Diamondbacks reassigned INF Ildemaro Vargas o minor league camp.
Vargas was in competition with Garrett Hampson for the utility job, and the D-Backs chose Hampson. Vargas will presumably begin the season with Triple-A Reno.
  • Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports that the Twins have informed Eiberson Castellano he won’t be a part of the Opening Day roster.
Castellano was the Twins’ Rule 5 draft pick, and Minnesota obviously didn’t feel comfortable with carrying him on the roster throughout 2025. Minnesota can try and work out a trade with the Phillies — the team the Twins selected Castellano from — but if not, he’ll be returned to the organization.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #79
Chris Cotillo of MassLive reports that Bryan Mata will not be a part of the Opening Day roster for the Red Sox.
Mata was re-signed to a minor league contract just hours after being non-tendered by Boston in November, and he didn’t do enough in the Grapefruit League to justify a roster spot. He could be up at some point this spring if he pitches well in Triple-A, but Boston will need to clear room on the 40-man roster.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #52
Angels signed RHP Carl Edwards Jr. to a minor league contract.
Edwards Jr. will likely stay behind in extended spring training before reporting to Triple-A Salt Lake. The 33-year-old is just org depth at this stage of his career.
  • LAD Third Baseman #13
Max Muncy pulverized his second home run of the spring on Sunday, propelling the Dodgers to a 7-1 victory over the Angels in their Freeway Series matchup.
Muncy was the only hitter on the Dodgers that did any damage against Jose Soriano on Sunday, crushing a first-pitch sinker for a 383-foot (99.2 mph eV) solo homer in the fifth inning that tied the game at 1-1. He finished the night 1-for-2 and is now hitting .227 (5-for-22) with a pair of homers and seven RBI. As long as he’s healthy, he’s going to be a viable contributor for fantasy purposes — just don’t expect him to help you out in batting average.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #79
Jackson Ferris pitched well in Sunday’s Freeway Series start against the Angels, allowing one run on two hits across 3 2/3 innings.
The 21-year-old hurler struck out four batters on the day while issuing a pair of free passes. The only blemish on his day came on a solo homer off the bat of Taylor Ward. Ferris got six swings and misses on 62 pitches in the ballgame — two each on his fastball, slider and curveball — while registering a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll open the year as extra rotation depth for the Dodgers in the upper minor leagues.
