Mariners signed LHP Josh Fleming to a minor league contract.
Fleming heads to the Pacific Northwest as emergency pitching depth for Seattle over the final few weeks of the year. The soft-tossing 28-year-old southpaw went unclaimed on waivers last week after being removed from Pittsburgh’s 40-man roster after 25 appearances (three starts) this season in the big leagues.

MacKenzie Gore allowed two runs in six innings and got a no-decision against the Phillies on Friday.
Padres put King back on IL, this time for knee
James Schiano discusses San Diego Padres' Michael King, who has been placed back on the Injured List for knee inflammation, explaining why this is a cause for concern.
  • PHI Starting Pitcher #45
Zack Wheeler allowed two runs in five innings and got a no-decision in the Phillies’ 6-2 victory over the Nationals on Friday.
  • PHI Relief Pitcher #59
Jhoan Duran was removed from Friday night’s appearance against the Nationals after being struck in the right foot by a line drive
Duran came on to work the ninth inning with the Phillies holding a four-run lead. On the fourth pitch that he threw, he was struck by a line drive (94.1 mph EV) off the bat of Paul DeJong and had to be carted off the field. Presumably, he’ll head for further evaluation and get imaging done to rule out any fractures. Look for the Phillies to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #67
Giants recalled RHP Keaton Winn from Triple-A Sacramento.
The 27-year-old hurler will join the Giants for their weekend series against the Rays with Ryan Walker heading to the paternity list. Winn has been hit hard in the minor leagues this season, posting a troublesome 8.49 ERA, 1.80 WHIP and a 24/8 K/BB ratio across 23 1/3 innings across three levels. He’ll give manager Bob Melvin another option in the middle innings.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #74
Giants placed RHP Ryan Walker on the paternity list.
The 29-year-old hurler is expected to be away from the Giants for their weekend series against the Rays as he welcomes a new addition to the family. Keaton Winn was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move to take his place in the Giants’ bullpen.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #65
Giants activated RHP Landen Roupp from the 15-day injured list.
The 26-year-old hurler will make his triumphant return to the Giants’ rotation on Friday evening against the Rays. Before landing on the injured list with inflammation in his pitching elbow, Roupp had posted a 3.11 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 95/42 K/BB ratio over his first 101 1/3 innings on the season.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
Giants placed INF Matt Chapman on the 10-day injured list with right hand inflammation.
It’s the same hand issue that bothered Chapman earlier in the season. He did undergo an MRI exam which seems to have ruled out any structural damage, but he’ll still miss at least a couple of weeks while recovering. Casey Schmitt is starting in his place at third base on Friday night and figures to handle the bulk of the action there while Chapman is shelved.
  • LAA Shortstop #2
Luis Rengifo is absent from the Angels’ starting lineup for Friday night’s skirmish against the Athletics.
There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong physically with the versatile 28-year-old, it looks to be just a routine night off. Christian Moore will start in his place at second base and bat eighth against A’s right-hander Jack Perkins.
  • LAD 3rd Baseman #13
Dodgers placed INF Max Muncy on the 10-day injured list with a right oblique strain.
Muncy was diagnosed with a Grade 1 strain and while he’s expected to be out longer than the minimum of 10 days, he is not expected to miss the remainder of the regular season. Buddy Kennedy — who was claimed off of waivers from the Blue Jays — will add infield depth for the Dodgers while Muncy is shelved.
  • COL Shortstop #14
Ezequiel Tovar is not in the Rockies’ starting lineup for Friday night’s soiree against the Diamondbacks.
It appears to be just a routine day of rest for the 24-year-old shortstop. Ryan Ritter was activated from the injured list prior to the game and he’ll start at shortstop and bat ninth against Brandon Pfaadt and the Diamondbacks on Friday evening at Coors Field.
