Dodgers placed RHP Blake Treinen on the 15-day injured list with left hip discomfort.
Treinen figured to get some sort of rest period here before hopefully serving as a key reliever for the Dodgers in the postseason. The 36-year-old, who missed 2023 following shoulder surgery, has a 2.67 ERA and a 38/9 K/BB in 30 1/3 innings this season after returning from a bruised lung suffered in spring training.

Nathan Eovaldi (back) will not start on Wednesday against the Athletics.
It sounds like the Rangers have decided to reverse course and give Eovaldi a couple extra days this week after he was scratched from his previous start with back tightness. It’ll be Patrick Corbin taking the ball for Wednesday’s series finale. There are zero guarantees at this point, but it sounds like Eovaldi will be ready to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta.
Dodgers relievers to add following Scott's injury
With the Dodgers "all but a lock" to add a reliever before the trade deadline following Tanner Scott's injury, Eric Samulski assesses which arms could be in line for precious save opportunities.
  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer to power the Rangers to a 6-2 win over the Athletics on Tuesday.
Seager knocked a double in the third inning, then broke the game open for the Rangers with a three-run shot off Hogan Harris in the seventh inning. The 31-year-old slugger is up to 14 homers while slashing .272/.370/.487 with 40 runs scored and 37 RBI across 305 plate appearances.
  • TB 3rd Baseman #77
José Caballero went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and two RBI on Tuesday evening, propelling the Rays to a 4-3 victory over the visiting White Sox.
Caballero smacked a two-run single off of Davis Martin and scored a run as part of a four-run uprising in the second inning, which turned out to be all of the offense that the Rays would require in the ballgame. He also led off the fifth inning with a single but was cut down attempting to steal second base. On the season, the 28-year-old infielder is now hitting .224/.319/.315 with two homers, 26 RBI and 32 stolen bases (in 40 attempts).
  • TB Center Fielder #14
Chandler Simpson walked, singled and stole three bases as the Rays eked out a one-run victory over the White Sox on Tuesday evening in Tampa Bay.
The 24-year-old speedster drew a two-out walk off of Davis Martin in the fifth inning and swiped second base, but the Rays were unable to cash him in. He then led off the eighth inning with a single and deftly swiped second and third base before being left stranded there. He’s now hitting .301/.333/.345 with zero homers, 15 RBI and a whopping 30 stolen bases in only 222 plate appearances with the Rays this season.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #29
Pete Fairbanks slammed the door on the White Sox in the ninth inning on Tuesday, protecting a one-run advantage to earn his 17th save of the season.
Fairbanks made it look awfully easy in this one, needing just 12 pitches (eight strikes) to dispatch of Miguel Vargas on a pop out to third base, Edgar Quero on a bouncer back to the mound and Colson Montgomery on a ground out to first to end it. The 31-year-old hurler has been a rock at the end of the Rays’ bullpen this season, registering a 2.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 32/15 K/BB ratio over 38 innings while recording 17 saves in his first 20 opportunities.
  • TEX 2nd Baseman #2
Marcus Semien went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Semien had gone hitless in four straight games going into Tuesday’s contest. He broke that hitless streak with a solo homer off Sean Newcomb in the sixth inning to give the Rangers the lead. It was the 13th home run of the season for the 34-year-old second baseman. He’s hitting .230/.309/.370 with 49 runs scored, 50 RBI, and eight steals across 421 plate appearances.
  • TB Starting Pitcher #57
Drew Rasmussen pitched decently in a no-decision against the White Sox on Tuesday, giving up two runs on three hits over his four innings of work.
The 29-year-old hurler walked one batter on the evening while punching out five. It took him 75 pitches to navigate four innings though and with the Rays working to limit his workload over the remainder of the regular season, he was lifted for Edwin Uceta to start the fifth inning. The damage done against him came in his final frame as Chase Meidroth smacked an RBI single and scored on a sacrifice fly. Rasmussen got six whiffs on the night while posting a CSW of 29 percent. He’ll bring a 2.93 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and an 82/23 K/BB ratio (95 1/3 innings) into Monday’s start against the Yankees. It would be far more appealing for fantasy purposes if he worked behind an opener, as these days he has almost no shot at earning a victory.
  • CWS Shortstop #12
Colson Montgomery blasted the first home run of his big league career on Tuesday, but it wasn’t enough to power the White Sox past the Rays.
The 23-year-old rookie shortstop did his damage off of Bryan Baker in the seventh inning, jumping on a 1-1 fastball and crushing a 359-foot (105.7 mph EV) solo shot that pulled the White Sox to within a run at 4-3. That would be the extent of the scoring in the ballgame. Montgomery finished the evening 1-for-4 and is now hitting .261/.346/.391 with one homer and seven RBI through his first 53 plate appearances with the White Sox.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #65
Davis Martin pitched decently in a losing effort against the Rays on Tuesday night, surrendering four runs (three earned) on three hits over his five frames.
Martin also issued four free passes on the evening while recording three strikeouts. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning, as Junior Caminero scored on a balk, Jose Caballero smacked a two-run single and Taylor Walls drove in a run with a ground out. Martin got five swings and misses on 76 pitches in his return from the injured list, posting a CSW of 20 percent. He’ll tote a 3.89 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 56/23 K/BB ratio (85 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Phillies.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #27
Edward Cabrera held the Padres to one run in 5 2/3 innings and struck out six in the Marlins’ 4-3 victory Tuesday.
There’s still good reason to worry about Cabrera’s elbow, especially given his lengthy injury history, but he seemed to be at full strength tonight. He averaged 97.3 mph on his sinker, up slightly from his season mark of 96.6 mph, and he generated 14 whiffs in the 86-pitch outing. He also went without a walk for a third straight start, which is pretty amazing. He entered the year with a career walk of 13.3%, but he’s at 8.1% right now. It’s going to be risky to trade for him, but some team will bite the bullet and hope for the best. Throwing like he is right now, he’d be a very legitimate postseason starter.
