Miles Mikolas was hit hard in a losing effort against the Cubs on Sunday night, allowing four runs on eight hits across his four-plus frames.
The 35-year-old right-hander also issued a pair of walks in the contest while recording three strikeouts. He kept the Cubs off the scoreboard completely through the first three innings, but the Cubs broke through in the fourth as Dansby Swanson plated a run with a ground ball and Mike Tauchman scored on a balk. Mikolas then returned for the fifth where he allowed three straight singles and a walk — pushing a run across and leaving the bases loaded with nobody out. Fortunately for him, only one additional run scored. He’ll try to get back on track and improve upon his 5.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 86/22 K/BB ratio (128 1/3 innings) when he does battle against the Royals in Kansas City on Friday.

Eury Pérez (elbow) will make his final minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough confirmed on Monday that Pérez will make his eighth and final rehab start this week before returning to Miami for his long-awaited season debut. The 22-year-old was a revelation as a rookie back in 2023 when he posted a stellar 3.15 ERA and 108/31 K/BB ratio across 91 1/3 innings (19 starts) before missing last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s worthy of a roster spot in all fantasy formats based on his immense upside, but the Marlins are likely to be extremely cautious with his workload in the coming months.
Abel, Young among top Week 11 waiver-wire targets
Eric Samulski examines the top fantasy baseball waiver-wire targets for Week 11, highlighting Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mick Abel and Seattle Mariners infielder Cole Young.
  • ATH Center Fielder #33
MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos reports the Athletics are recalling outfielder JJ Bleday for Monday’s game against the Twins.
Bleday was demoted to the minors to work on his swing back in late May and will return to the Athletics’ lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Twins. Whatever he changed at Triple-A Las Vegas was clearly working since he batted .370 (10-for-27) with a homer and a double in six games. His return likely pushes rookie outfielder Drew Avans back to the minors, but that’s not official yet.
  • BOS 2nd Baseman #28
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that there’s less urgency to play Kristian Campbell at first base with Romy Gonzalez back from the injured list.
Campbell didn’t end up making his professional debut at the cold corner last week and it doesn’t sound like that’s in the works any more with both Gonzalez and Abraham Toro as option at the position. The 22-year-old top prospect figures to continue splitting time between second base and left field moving forward.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #32
Chase Dollander (forearm) will be activated to start on Tuesday against the Marlins.
Well, that was quick. Dollander faced hitters last week in a live batting practice session and the Rockies are going to bring him back without a minor league rehab assignment. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect hit the injured list back in mid-May with forearm tightness. He’d obviously be of much greater intrigue for fantasy purposes if he wasn’t pitching for Colorado. He’s struggled to a lackluster 6.28 ERA and 38/18 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings (eight starts) this season in his first taste of the majors.
  • DET Center Fielder #22
Tigers activated OF Parker Meadows from the 60-day injured list.
No lineup for the Tigers yet, but we imagine Meadows will be in it with the White Sox throwing a right-hander. It’ll be interesting to see where he bats in the order; he figured to be the Tigers’ leadoff man against righties before getting hurt this spring and missing the first two months with a nerve problem in his arm. For now, though, he’ll probably hit lower in the order, and he’ll likely sit against some lefties. Wenceel Pérez and Javier Báez will both likely lose playing time with Meadows back, but the Tigers will still do playing of mixing and matching. Meadows should eventually be helpful in mixed leagues, but it might take a little while as he works to reestablish himself.
  • DET Left Fielder #44
Tigers optioned OF Justyn-Henry Malloy to Triple-A Toledo.
Malloy was hitting .215/.348/.290 while mostly playing against lefties. His patience at the plate ensures a respectable OBP, but he’s going to have to hit for more power in order to stick in the majors. He had just one homer in 115 plate appearances this season.
  • DET Relief Pitcher #74
Tigers designated RHP Ryan Cusick for assignment.
Cusick, who has a 6.32 ERA as a Triple-A reliever this year, was just claimed on waivers from the A’s on Friday. If he clears waivers this time, he’ll remain with Triple-A Toledo.
  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Christian Yelich (hand) is in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Reds.
X-rays came back negative after Yelich was hit by a pitch and made an early exit from Sunday’s game against the Phillies. The 33-year-old is at DH and batting cleanup on Monday evening against the Reds. It’s a positive sign for fantasy managers since he’s been on a tear at the dish of late, hitting .305 (18-for-59) with five homers, 13 RBI and two steals over his past 15 games.
  • LAA 3rd Baseman #5
Angels placed 3B Yoán Moncada on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation.
Moncada has performed well when he’s been able to take the field this season, hitting .237/.336/.505 in 30 games. If this calms down quickly, he could return in 10 days. Until then, the Angels figure to use Luis Rengifo at third and go with Scott Kingery and Kevin Newman at second. Kingery is starting tonight.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #24
Angels placed RHP Robert Stephenson on 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 31, with right biceps inflammation.
Stephenson was hurt in his second MLB appearance since returning from Tommy John surgery. The Angels thought it was a day-to-day problem, but he’ll be down for at least two weeks now.
