River Ryan yielded two runs in 4 2/3 innings Sunday against the A’s.
Ryan was pulled one out shy of qualifying for the win, but there was good reason for that after he loaded the bases in a one-run game in the fifth. Fortunately, Evan Phillips was able to strike out Brent Rooker to escape the jam. Ryan has a 1.72 ERA after three starts, and he’ll again be worth using in mixed leagues next weekend against the Pirates.

According to Taylor Blake Ward of Baseball America, the Angels plan to promote top prospect Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Moore, the eighth overall selection from the 2024 draft class, has hit .279/.374/.422 with five homers, 32 RBI, eight stolen bases (in 12 attempts) and a 65/31 K/BB ratio over 238 plate appearances between Double-A Rocket City and Triple-A Salt Lake this season. He has been playing second base exclusively in the minor leagues, so perhaps it’s time the Halos pull the plug on the Scott Kingery experiment there.
Bednar one of most dominant relievers in baseball
James Schiano discusses the emergence of David Bednar, explaining how he put a disastrous 2024 season behind him to rebound this year, which could lead to him being traded to a postseason contender prior to the deadline.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #55
Royals’ manager Matt Quatraro told reporters on Thursday that Cole Ragans (shoulder) is getting a second opinion.
The Royals’ skipper noted that they’ll have a better idea on his status and how long he’ll be shut down for after he gets that second opinion, though he noted that Ragans will be out “a while”. It sounds like fantasy managers should unfortunately be bracing for an extended absence here.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #49
Cubs sent RHP Tyson Miller outright to Triple-A Iowa.
The 29-year-old hurler was activated from the 60-day injured list and designated for assignment last week, but he passed through waivers without being claimed and will continue to function as extra bullpen depth for the Cubs.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #32
According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets plan to promote Max Kranick from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday.
That will be the corresponding move for Kodai Senga (hamstring) heading to the injured list. Kranick has already appeared in 22 games for the Mets this season, registering a strong 3.51 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and a 23/3 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings. He only got squeezed out of a bullpen spot earlier in the month because he was one of the few options that had minor league options remaining. He’ll add another weapon to manager Carlos Mendoza’s bullpen.
  • COL 2nd Baseman #39
Thairo Estrada went 3-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI as the Rockies came back to beat the Giants 8-7 on Thursday.
The Rockies were down 7-3 when Estrada hit a two-run double in the seventh. He also doubled to help fuel the three-run rally in the ninth before Orlando Arcia won the game with a single. Estrada is batting .261 with five doubles and seven RBI in 11 games since coming off the IL and making his Rockies debut. However, he’s without a homer or a walk, so that .261 average amounts to a .641 OPS. More importantly for fantasy leaguers, he’s 0-for-1 stealing bases, and he’s going to need to be a real factor in that category if he’s going to amass mixed-league value.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #49
Antonio Senzatela was tagged for seven runs in four-plus innings by the Giants on Thursday.
Senzatela walked three and threw two wild pitches, which is kind of notable from someone who had thrown a total of 11 in 754 career innings coming into the day. He left down five runs in the fifth, but he avoided falling to 1-11 because of a big comeback that might well go down as the highlight of the Rockies’ season. He’ll face the Nationals next.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #60
Hayden Birdsong put together a quality start at Coors Field on Thursday, allowing three runs over six innings against the Rockies.
Birdsong totaled 16 missed swings and six strikeouts in the 104-pitch outing. It’s the first time he’s gone six innings since moving into the rotation last month, and he appeared set to pick up his third win in five starts before the Giants pen blew a four-run lead. Birdsong has a 3.24 ERA and a 26/9 K/BB through 25 innings as a starter. He’ll face the Guardians next week.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #73
Randy Rodríguez took a blown save and a loss after giving up three runs — one earned — in the ninth Thursday against the Rockies.
Rodríguez was closing today because Camilo Doval threw 48 pitches the last two days. but he proved wild, and just when it looked like he might get out of it anyway, Casey Schmitt booted a hard grounder to third for an error. Orlando Arcia then won the game with a single on Rodríguez’s 43rd pitch of the inning. Rodríguez will definitely need at least one day off after this, but Doval should be ready to close Friday.
  • SF 1st Baseman #7
Dominic Smith went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and a walk against the Rockies on Thursday.
All three hits came off Antonio Senzatela, with the last being the homer that knocked Senzatela out of the game. It was Smith’s first homer in eight games since joining the Giants. He’s 8-for-25 with seven RBI so far, but he’s not someone who should be rostered in mixed leagues, at least outside of series at Coors Field.
  • SEA Center Fielder #10
Mariners’ general manager Justin Hollander told reporters recently that he doesn’t expect Victor Robles (shoulder) to be ready to return until September.
When he was injured, the M’s were hopeful that Robles could be ready to return at some point in mid-July, but that appears to have been optimistic. The 28-year-old outfielder has been rehabbing at the team’s spring training complex in Peoria. He just got his arm out of a sling two weeks ago and is still working on his range of motion and strengthening exercises. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues that are holding out hope for a return may want to cut bait and better utilize that roster spot.
