Cal Quantrill struggled once again in Sunday’s loss to the Padres, giving up three runs on five hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
Quantrill also issued three walks on the afternoon while striking out a pair of opposing hitters. The 29-year-old hurler allowed an RBI double to Jackson Merrill in the second inning, then served up a pair of solo home runs to Kyle Higashioka and Jurickson Profar before exiting in the fifth. On the day, he got just six whiffs on 88 pitches, leading to an underwhelming CSW of 17 percent. Now 7-8 on the season, he’ll look to rebound as he carries a 4.56 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and a 92/48 K/BB ratio (122 1/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Braves at Coors Field on Saturday.
