  • MIN Center Fielder #25

Byron Buxton was removed from Sunday afternoon’s battle against the White Sox after colliding with the center field wall as he made a terrific leaping catch to end the sixth inning.
Buxton was slow to get up but was ultimately able to walk of the field under his own power. The Twins pinch-hit for him in the home half of the inning though. Presumably he’ll head for further evaluation to determine exactly what’s going on. Expect an update on the oft-injured outfielder’s status as soon as more information becomes available.
  • SF Relief Pitcher #68

Erik Miller has been diagnosed with a mild UCL sprain in his left elbow.
Miller expressed optimism that he’ll make it back to San Francisco’s bullpen in roughly five weeks, but that would be the best-case scenario. The broader concern here is that the 27-year-old lefty could wind up requiring surgery if his elbow doesn’t respond well to the rest and rehabilitation route.
Why Henriquez and Gelof are waiver wire targets
Eric Samulski claims that Marlins' Ronny Henriquez and Athletics' Zack Gelof are two potential waiver wire targets, explaining why each could be added to any league type.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #43
Orioles sent RHP Luis F. Castillo outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
Castillo will remain with Baltimore as emergency starting pitching depth after going unclaimed on waivers. The 30-year-old righty was jettisoned from the Orioles’ 40-man roster over the weekend. He made two starts earlier this year for the Mariners before being shipped to the Orioles in early May.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #58
Angels recalled RHP Victor Mederos from Triple-A Salt Lake.
Mederos gets the call to join Los Angeles’ relief corps prior to Monday’s series opener against the Rangers with veteran Hunter Strickland hitting the shelf with shoulder inflammation. The 24-year-old righty has made one relief appearance this season in the big leagues.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #60
Angels placed RHP Hunter Strickland on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation.
No word yet on the severity of the issue, which will determine how much time Strickland misses. The 36-year-old veteran righty has made 19 relief appearances for the Angels since signing with the club back on May 18.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #11
Padres activated RHP Yu Darvish from the 60-day injured list.
Darvish will make his long-awaited season debut on Monday night against the division-rival Diamondbacks at Petco Park following a three-month absence at the outset of the year recovering from elbow inflammation. The legendary 38-year-old’s durability questions aren’t going to magically vanish, but he figures to make an impact for fantasy managers, especially in deeper mixed leagues, when he takes the ball for San Diego. His days as a true fantasy ace are long gone, but he still offers enough strikeout potential to warrant a roster spot in most leagues.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #68
Padres optioned LHP Kyle Hart to Triple-A El Paso.
There simply isn’t a spot for Hart in San Diego’s rotation mix anymore with Yu Darvish (elbow) officially back from the injured list. The 32-year-old southpaw has struggled this season in his stateside return, but he looked sharp on Sunday when he tossed 3 2/3 scoreless frames in a bulk relief outing against the Rangers. He could potentially return in a long relief role at some point in the second half.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #34
Padres transferred RHP Michael King to the 60-day injured list.
It’s merely a procedural move as King will be on the shelf through the All-Star break and is still several weeks away from pitching in minor league rehab games. It’s challenging to forecast the 30-year-old fantasy ace making it back before sometime in August at this juncture. He played catch on Monday and is scheduled to throw a touch-and-feel bullpen session later this week. He’s been out since late May recovering from a pinched nerve in his right shoulder.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #10
Giants activated INF Casey Schmitt from the 10-day injured list.
Schmitt returns for Monday’s contest against the Phillies after requiring only a minimum stay on the injured list with left hand inflammation. The 26-year-old infielder was in the midst of one of the strongest stretches of his young career and figures to spend most of his time at second base moving forward.
  • SF Shortstop #49
Giants optioned INF Tyler Fitzgerald to Triple-A Sacramento.
Fitzgerald has been jettisoned to the minors with Casey Schmitt returning from the injured list ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Phillies. The 27-year-old middle infielder has been surpassed by Schmitt on the Giants’ depth chart and they’re clearly willing to keep Brett Wisely over him in a bench role.
  • SF Catcher #13
Giants re-signed C Logan Porter to a minor league contract.
Porter returns as organizational catching depth for San Francisco after passing through waivers unclaimed and electing free agency. The 29-year-old backstop got into four games earlier this season for the Giants.
