  • PIT 2nd Baseman #3

Ji Hwan Bae is in the starting lineup against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Bae missed four games while dealing with soreness in his knee. The speedy outfielder will hit seventh and patrol center field, and he essentially takes the lineup spot of Andrew McCutchen; who is out with tightness in his left quad.
  • SD 3rd Baseman #13

Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.
Machado gave the Padres their only run off Sandy Alcantara with a single in the fourth, and it’s worth noting that run was unearned because of an error by Nick Fortes. Machado also doubled, and he’s now slashing an excellent .285/.346/.485 with 61 RBI.
Phillies' Painter unlikely to offer fantasy boost
James Schiano evaluates Andrew Painter's potential path to the Phillies rotation, highlighting several possible obstacles and circumstances that could delay his arrival and obscure his fantasy relevance.
  • MIA Left Fielder #7
Jesús Sánchez hit a two-run homer to help the Marlins to a win Wednesday over the Padres.
Sánchez made sure Sandy Alcantara’s vintage start didn’t go to waste, as his two-run shot off Dylan Cease gave the Marlins a 3-1 lead. The 27-year-old outfielder has now homered nine times, that roundtripper along with a walk and single push his slash to a decent .262/.326/.423 in 2025.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #53
Calvin Faucher worked the final 1 2/3 innings to pick up a save Wednesday versus the Padres.
Foucher got the final five outs for his ninth save of the season, but it’s worth noting that this was his first for the Marlins since June 28. The 29-year-old isn’t likely to see many more chances over the 2025 season, and also could be traded to a team that is looking for middle-relief help before the July 31 deadline.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #84
Dylan Cease allowed three runs — two earned — over five innings while picking up a loss to the Marlins on Wednesday.
With the loss, Cease falls to 3-10 on the season. He allowed a run in the first on an RBI single from Augustin Ramirez, but the hit that turned a solid start into a mediocre one was a two-run homer by Jesús Sánchez. Cease also walked three, so the command issues that have been there for much of 2025 were readily apparent. Cease will attempt to rebound against the Mets on Monday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #22
Sandy Alcantara was credited with a win after allowing just an unearned run over seven innings to help the Marlins to a 3-2 victory over the Padres on Wednesday.
Now that’s the Sandy Alcantara fantasy managers have been waiting to see. The 29-year-old allowed just four hits, didn’t walk anyone and struck out four in a start that reminded that this was once as good as any pitcher in baseball. The 29-year-old still has an ugly 6.66 ERA, but calling this encouraging is an understatement. Assuming he’s still a member of the Marlins — far from a guarantee — Alcantara will have a chance to build on this against the Cardinals on Tuesday.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa is not in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Dodgers.
It appears to just be a day of rest for Correa. The 30-year-old shortstop gets a break after scoring four runs in Tuesday’s win over Los Angeles, and Brooks Lee will hit ninth and play shortstop in Correa’s absence.
  • CIN Shortstop #44
Elly De La Cruz scored a run and stole a base in a win for Reds on Wednesday over the Nationals.
The steal gives De La Cruz 27 on the season. On top of that impressive swip total, the 23-year-old has hit .276/.357/.478 with 16 homers. Even in a game where he doesn’t get a hit, a player like De La Cruz can make an impact. You can’t teach speed, folks.
  • WSH Starting Pitcher #34
Michael Soroka held the Reds to just one run Wednesday over 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts, but he picked up a hard-luck loss.
Soroka was good. Nick Lodolo was great. It happens sometimes, but happens more when you don’t exactly have a quality lineup behind you as is the case for Soroka. The 27-year-old has given up just two runs over his last two starts, and he has zero wins to show for it. Soroka will hope for some run support next week when he faces the Astros in Houston.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #40
Nick Lodolo allowed four hits while firing a complete game shutout in a 5-0 win for the Reds on Wednesday.
Sensational. Lodolo struck out eight without issuing a walk, and needed just 105 pitches — 76 of those strikes — to get the complete game. The southpaw has been outstanding in 2025, and this effort lowers his ERA to 3.08 while improving his K/BB to 112/23 over 122 2/3 innings of work. He’ll get a chance to repeat this effort against the Dodgers next week.
  • LAA Right Fielder #12
Jorge Soler left Wednesday’s game against the Mets with an apparent injury.
Soler has been dealing with some nagging issues as of late, and it appears that has something to do with the early exit for the 33-year-old. Chris Taylor has moved to right field from third base, and Kevin Newman has taken over at third. Specifics on why Soler left Wednesday’s game should be available shortly.
