Jordan Montgomery allowed one run with three strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Pirates on Saturday.
Montgomery had allowed one run, a solo homer by Joey Bart, through three innings before his start was cut short by a rain delay against the Pirates. He struck out three. The 31-year-old left-hander will take a 6.37 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and a 51/29 K/BB ratio across 77 2/3 innings into a start against the Phillies in Arizona on Thursday.

  • STL Right Fielder #18
Jordan Walker went 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI on Friday night, leading the Cardinals to a 5-0 victory over the Cubs.
Walker opened the scoring in the ballgame with an RBI infield single off of Matthew Boyd in the second inning. He then clubbed a 434-foot (111.7 mph EV) solo shot off of Ryan Brasier in the sixth inning that extended the Cardinals’ advantage to 4-0. With his two-hit attack, the 23-year-old outfielder is now hitting .237/.291/.336 to go along with four homers and 31 RBI in what has been another disappointing campaign.
  • STL Catcher #43
Pedro Pages went 2-for-3 and drove in a run on Friday night as the Cardinals triumphed over the visiting Cubs.
Pages led off the fifth inning with an infield single and ultimately scored on a two-out RBI knock off the bat of Willson Contreras. He then delivered a run-scoring single of his own in the sixth that extended the Cardinals’ lead to 5-0. With his two-hit night, the 26-year-old backstop is now hitting .211/.256/.331 with seven homers and 33 RBI on the season.
  • STL Right Fielder #41
Alec Burleson went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run scored as the Cardinals topped the Cubs on Friday evening in St. Louis.
Burleson led off the second inning with a single and scored the game’s first run on an RBI infield single off the bat of Jordan Walker. That would be all the run support that Michael McGreevy and company would require in this one. Burleson also singled in the fourth and in in the seventh. For the season, the 26-year-old outfielder is now slashing .285/.338/.453 with 14 homers, 50 RBI and four stolen bases in 400 plate appearances.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #36
Michael McGreevy was brilliant in Friday night’s victory over the Cubs, scattering six hits over six innings of scoreless baseball.
The 25-year-old rookie right-hander struck out three batters on the evening while allowing one free pass. All six of the hits against him in the ballgame were singles. The biggest threat against him came as the Cubs put two men on to open the fifth inning, but McGreevy rallied to retire the next three hitters in order to quell that rally. He got six whiffs on 87 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 25 percent. He’ll attempt to replicate this fine effort as he totes a 4.40 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and a 26/7 K/BB ratio (45 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Rockies.
  • CHC Left Fielder #8
Ian Happ went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and two strikeouts as the Cubs were shut out by Michael McGreevy and the Cardinals on Friday evening in St. Louis.
As a team, the Cubs were only able to muster seven hits in the ballgame — all of them singles — with Happ the only member of the team to collect more than one. The 30-year-old outfielder has had a decent season overall at the plate, slashing just .232/.326/.396 with 16 homers, 54 RBI and five stolen bases.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #16
Matthew Boyd suffered his fifth loss of the season on Friday night, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings of work against the Cardinals.
The 34-year-old southpaw struck out three batters on the evening and did not allow a base on balls. The Cardinals scratched out a single run against him in the second inning then pushed two more across in Boyd’s final inning of work. He generated eight swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 26 percent. He’ll look to get back in the win column as he carries a 2.39 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 121/29 K/BB ratio (135 2/3 innings) into Thursday’s battle against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
