Berríos’s ongoing struggles continued on Saturday afternoon at Yankee Stadium as he served up a trio of two-run homers to Aaron Judge, Trent Grisham and Anthony Volpe, respectively, which accounted for all of the damage against him. The 30-year-old righty got off to a great start earlier this year, but the underlying advanced metrics hinted at some looming regression. We didn’t think it would be this dramatic as he’s allowed four earned runs or more in six of his last nine outings dating back to June 16. He’ll attempt to turn things around on Friday in a favorable matchup against the rebuilding Athletics.

The Phillies have yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against Washington. Nola threw 5 2/3 innings while striking out 11 in a rehab start Tuesday for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. You get where this is going. It’s not a lock that Nola makes that start, but all signs point to him making his return to the Philadelphia rotation this weekend.

Gordon worked two ineffective innings in the blowout loss to the Red Sox on Tuesday while allowing five runs; four of those earned. Jordan Weems will take his spot in the bullpen.

Weems is up to give the Astros some depth in their bullpen after the 14-1 shellacking by the Red Sox on Tuesday. He likely will just be a low-leverage option in this stint with Houston.

Roth didn’t get claimed after being designated for assignment by the Orioles on Monday. The 27-year-old has pitched well in the minors, but his lack of velocity makes him more organizational depth than future high-leverage reliever.

Chapman missed time in 2025 with a right-hand injury, so it’s not surprising that some soreness has built up. This sounds very precautionary, so Chapman should be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Turang was removed from Tuesday’s blowout win over the Pirates with a sore pinky, but it was purely precautionary as evidence by his return to the lineup less than 24 hours later.

It’s just a day off for Chapman. The 32-year-old gets a breather with Casey Schmitt getting the start at the hot corner and hitting third against Nick Pivetta and the Padres.

It’s known when García picked up the ankle sprain, but the 32-year-old will be out of action for at least a week-plus, and likely longer. Evan Carter (back) was activated off the injured list in a corresponding move.

Carter missed just-over the minimum 10-day stint while dealing with back spasms. He should be an everyday option — with the occasional day of rest, of course — now that he’s back. The question is if these back issues are going to linger in not just 2025, but beyond.

Benschoter is removed from the active roster to make room for Hunter Greene after Greene came off the injured list with a groin strain. Benschoter is nothing more than an up-and-down arm at this stage of his career. There are worse things in life, of course, but there’s no fantasy upside in that.
