Mets acquired RHP Tyler Zuber from the Rays for RHP Paul Gervase
Zuber is a side-armer who signed a minor league deal with the Rays back in mid-May following a stint with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. He has allowed one run in 3 1/3 innings for the Rays in 2024 after not having appeared in the big leagues since making 54 relief appearances for the Royals from 2020-2021. He’ll add a little more depth to the Mets bullpen.

White Sox recalled 1B/OF Ryan Noda from Triple-A Charlotte.
Noda was plucked off of waivers from the Red Sox on Friday afternoon and will take the place of Tim Elko on the White Sox’ active roster. The 29-year-old has hit .204/.404/.375 with seven homers, 21 RBI and a 65/43 K/BB ratio over 208 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.

White Sox optioned 1B Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte.
While Elko has flashed his trademark power at the major league level with four homers in his first 63 plate appearances, he has done so while slashing a woeful .155/.222/.379 with a 24/5 K/BB ratio. He’ll return to an everyday role at Triple-A Charlotte to continue to refine his approach. Ryan Noda was recalled from Triple-A to take his place on the White Sox’ active roster.
  • MIL Left Fielder #5
Garrett Mitchell (oblique) will begin a minor league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.
Mitchell and fellow rehabbing outfielder Blake Perkins (shin) have both been cleared to begin their rehab assignments. Mitchell has been sidelined since April 25 due to a strained oblique. Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy told reporters earlier in the week that he anticipates both of them returning to the roster at some point in early July barring any setbacks.
  • MIL Center Fielder #16
Blake Perkins (shin) will begin a minor league rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League on Saturday.
The 28-year-old outfielder has been shelved since the end of spring training due to a fractured right shin. He’s going to require a lengthy rehab assignment and isn’t expected to be an option to join the Brewers until July.
  • HOU 2nd Baseman #0
Astros selected the contract of INF Luis Guillorme from Triple-A Sugar Land.
The 30-year-old infielder will take the place of Shay Whitcomb on the Astros’ bench. Guillorme has slashed .248/.377/.317 with two homers, 22 RBI, three swipes and a 46/41 K/BB ratio over 244 plate appearances at Triple-A Sugar Land this season.
  • HOU Left Fielder #67
Astros selected the contract of C/OF Cooper Hummel from Triple-A Sugar Land.
The well-traveled 30-year-old will get his first opportunity with the Astros with Jacob Melton (ankle) landing on the injured list on Saturday. Hummel has spent the majority of the season at the Triple-A level where he has slashed .273/.382/.473 with two homers, nine RBI and a 13/11 K/BB ratio over 68 plate appearances between three organizations.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #41
Astros transferred RHP Spencer Arrightetti to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 25-year-old hurler, this was done merely as a procedural move to clear a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the arrival of Luis Guillorme and Cooper Hummel on Saturday. Arrighetti continues to progress in his recovery from a fractured thumb and is scheduled to throw a bullpen session next week.
  • HOU Center Fielder #31
Astros placed OF Jacob Melton on the 10-day injured list with a right ankle sprain.
Melton suffered the injury during Friday night’s contest against the Twins. No word yet on the severity of the sprain, but the 24-year-old outfielder is going to miss a couple of weeks at a minimum. Cooper Hummel was promoted from Triple-A Sugar Land to take his place on the Astros’ active roster.
  • HOU Shortstop #10
Astros optioned INF/OF Shay Whitcomb to Triple-A Sugar Land.
The versatile 26-year-old has seen very limited action during his time with the Astros, going hitless in seven at-bats over four games. He’ll return to an everyday role at the Triple-A level. Luis Guillorme was promoted from Triple-A to take his place on the active roster on Saturday.
  • PIT 1st Baseman #2
Spencer Horwitz is not in the Pirates’ starting lineup for Saturday’s matchup against the Cubs.
He’ll take a seat with left-hander Matthew Boyd getting the ball for the Cubs in this one. The 27-year-old is hitting just .214/.290/.321 with one homer, six RBI and a 24/8 K/BB ratio over 93 plate appearances since his return from the injured list. Jared Triolo will start in his place at first base and bat seventh for the Pirates on Saturday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
