Mets designated LHP Jake Diekman for assignment.
The 37-year-old southpaw was once considered a key cog in the Mets’ bullpen, but after registering a 5.63 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and a 40/24 K/BB ratio across 32 innings, the club had seen enough. There’s a chance that he could generate interest on waivers or be dealt to a team in need of bullpen help. Matt Gage was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move on Monday.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell said following Sunday’s loss to the Mets that Ian Happ (oblique) will continue leading off when he returns to the lineup.
Happ played catch and was able to take swings prior to sitting out Sunday’s game against the Mets, so it appears there’s a chance he’ll be ready for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins. Emerging fantasy star Pete Crow-Armstrong went 1-for-4 with solo homer on Sunday in his second straight appearance in the leadoff spot with Happ out of the lineup.
Reds, Greene 'avoid disaster' with groin strain
James Schiano explains how the Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Hunter Greene avoided disaster with his groin strain considering his history of arm injuries, and why fantasy managers should look to get him for cheap.
  • NYM Catcher #13
Luis Torrens was removed from Sunday’s game against the Cubs with a groin injury.
Torrens was pulled from Sunday’s game at Citi Field in the top of the sixth inning after taking a foul tip to the groin area off the bat of Cubs star Kyle Tucker. He was 1-for-2 with an RBI triple before making an early exit. There should be an update on his status ahead of Monday’s series opener against the Pirates.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez (elbow) recorded five strikeout over three scoreless innings on Sunday in a minor league rehab start for Low-A Jupiter.
Pérez scattered three hits and needed just 42 pitches (31 strikes) to navigate three frames in his latest rehab outing. The dynamic 22-year-old righty is targeting a return to Miami’s rotation at some point next month as he wraps up his rehabilitation process from last year’s Tommy John surgery.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #31
Tyler Glasnow (shoulder) will be re-evaluated on Monday in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache.
Glasnow resumed throwing earlier this week and will have a follow-up exam to determine how his shoulder is progressing after hitting the injured list roughly two weeks ago with inflammation. There should be a clearer timetable for the 31-year-old fantasy ace’s return following Monday’s checkup.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #7
Blake Snell (shoulder) remains shut down from throwing.
It’s not a positive development that Snell is still dealing with shoulder issues five weeks after landing on the injured list with what was described as merely inflammation after an MRI didn’t reveal any structural damage. The 32-year-old southpaw is set to be re-evaluated by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on Monday in Los Angeles. He remains without a definitive return timetable and fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until sometime in June. That rough estimate might be too optimistic if he’s not able to resume throwing in the next few weeks.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #63
Justin Martinez (shoulder) threw a bullpen session on Sunday.
Martinez was shut down earlier this month with shoulder inflammation and all indications are that he’s looked sharp since resuming a throwing program. There isn’t a clear timetable for his return at the moment, but all signs point to him returning to Arizona’s high-leverage mix by the end of May.
  • NYY Center Fielder #12
Trent Grisham is not in the lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Athletics.
Grisham will take a seat for Sunday’s series finale after going 1-for-9 over his last two games with slugger Ben Rice getting into the lineup at DH. The 28-year-old center fielder has put together an unexpected resurgence this season, hitting .276/.366/.612 with 21 runs scored, 10 homers and 20 RBI through 33 games.
  • BAL Left Fielder #13
Heston Kjerstad is not in the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Angels.
Kjerstad takes a seat with lefty Tyler Anderson on the mound for Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. It’ll be right-handers Ramón Laureano and Tyler O’Neill in the outfield corners for the Orioles during the series finale.
  • LAD 2nd Baseman #6
Hyeseong Kim is at second base and batting eighth on Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
Kim is hitting .316 (6-for-19) with zero extra-base hits and two steals in eight games since being called up last weekend to make his Dodgers debut. The versatile 26-year-old infielder has split time between second base and center field over the last week and figures to oscillate between the two spots moving forward. The lack of significant over-the-fence power limits his fantasy upside, but he projects as a decent batting average and steals source, especially in Los Angeles’ loaded lineup.
  • PHI Left Fielder #28
Phillies signed 1B Seth Beer to a minor league contract.
Beer returns to affiliated ball after launching four homers during a 14-game stint with the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. The 28-year-old former first-round pick, who was included in the Zack Greinke deal back in 2019, spent all of last year in the Pirates’ system and hasn’t appeared in the big leagues since getting into 43 games for the Diamondbacks from 2021-2022.
