Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI in a win over the Rangers on Sunday.
He also added a sacrifice fly and now has 19 home runs and 64 RBI on the season. If only other players in the Blue Jays lineup were performing up to the same standards they wouldn’t be sellers at the trade deadline. Vlad Jr.'s strong season comes with a 17.6 percent HR/FB ratio which is up from last year but still below the 2022 season and well below the bouncy-ball 2021 season. It’s looking increasingly like Vlad Jr. is a 30 home run bat the big league level and not the 40-plus home run guy we saw in 2021, but he should still remain tremendously valuable in fantasy leagues.

Daulton Varsho (hamstring) will continue his minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Buffalo.
Varsho has appeared in four rehab contests between Low-A Dunedin and the Rookie-level Florida Complex League already. He’ll face some higher level competition later this week before returning to Toronto’s outfield mix. The 29-year-old center fielder has been out since late May recovering from a hamstring strain.
Phillies' Painter unlikely to offer fantasy boost
James Schiano evaluates Andrew Painter's potential path to the Phillies rotation, highlighting several possible obstacles and circumstances that could delay his arrival and obscure his fantasy relevance.
  • NYY Right Fielder #27
Giancarlo Stanton is on the bench for Wednesday’s series finale against the Blue Jays.
Stanton takes a seat after starting six of the previous seven games for New York at DH. The 35-year-old veteran slugger is hitting .292 (14-for-48) with five homers and 14 RBI in 15 games since the start of July. It’ll be Aaron Judge getting a break from the field on Wednesday evening with Cody Bellinger heading out to right field with Trent Grisham and Jasson Domínguez rounding out the rest of the outfield.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo homered, singled and scored twice as the Mets topped the Angels 6-3 on Wednesday.
The homer was a leadoff blast against Brock Burke in the first. Nimmo’s OPS by month this year: .677, .762, .879 and now .920. If the trend continues, he’ll match Aaron Judge by Aug. 2026.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #59
Sean Manaea worked five innings, allowing one run and two hits, in a victory Wednesday against the Angels.
Mike Trout’s homer was the only damage. Manaea struck out five and walked two in a pretty easy outing. It’s his first win in three games since returning from an oblique strain. He’ll be well worth using in mixed leagues against the Padres next week.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #39
Edwin Díaz got the final four outs in a 6-3 game for a save Wednesday against the Angels.
Díaz came on with two outs and one on in the eighth and hit Taylor Ward to bring the tying run to the plate. He then threw six pitches to Luis Rengifo. None of them were in the strike zone or were swung at by Rengifo. Still, Díaz was credited with a strikeout by Erich Bacchus anyway, which resulted in Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery getting tossed. The ninth also started eventfully, as Díaz hit Chris Taylor in the helmet with his first pitch of the frame. Thankfully, Taylor was okay, and Díaz retired three in a row from there. It’s his 21st save.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #39
Jake Eder pitched the final six innings against the Mets on Wednesday, giving up five runs and striking out seven in taking a loss.
Brock Burke opened today, allowing one run in the first, and Sam Bachman finished with a scoreless second. After that, it was all Eder, though he wouldn’t have come back out for the ninth had the Angels pulled off a comeback. Four of the five runs scored in Eder’s first inning of work, but he was quite effective afterwards, retiring 13 of the final 15 batters he faced. It’s unclear if he’ll stay up and face the Rangers next week or head back to Triple-A.
  • NYM Shortstop #12
Francisco Lindor snapped an 0-for-31 skid with two hits and two RBI against the Angels on Wednesday.
Neither single was hit hard, but both were nice liners to good spots. Lindor had gone hitless and walkless in six straight games, dropping his OBP to .313.
  • LAA Left Fielder #33
Chris Taylor doubled in a run and was hit by a pitch Wednesday against the Mets.
The HBP in the ninth was a 96-mph fastball from Edwin Diaz that hit him square in the helmet. Fortunately, he was able to remain in afterwards. Taylor started and finished at third base today, though he also played some right field in between.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #17
Nathan Eovaldi (back) is scheduled to start on Friday against Atlanta.
There are zero guarantees when it comes to back issues, but Eovaldi appears on track to start Friday’s series opener against Atlanta. The 35-year-old veteran has been pushed back a couple times over the last week for some extra rest after experiencing back tightness. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status heading into Friday’s contest at Globe Life Field.
  • CLE Center Fielder #86
Guardians OF prospect Chase DeLauter underwent surgery to repair a right hamate fracture and will miss 6-8 weeks.
DeLauter has dealt with numerous injury setbacks since being selected 16th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft, with this latest procedure extinguishing any chance he’ll make it to Cleveland until next season. The 23-year-old top prospect’s offensive talent is undeniable, but he’s been snake-bitten by injuries, mostly foot issues, the last few years.
