Kyle Schwarber went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a three-run home run against the Guardians on Saturday.
The home run was Schwarber’s 20th of the season. With the Phillies up 4-0 already and two men on base with two outs in the fourth inning, the Guardians brought in reliever Nick Sandlin. Schwarber promptly took him deep for a three-run home run. It’s his third home run in 14 games in July. Schwarber is hitting .245 with an .817 OPS and 60 RBI on the season.

Mets designated LHP José Castillo for assignment.
Castillo has been jettisoned from New York’s bullpen mix ahead of Sunday night’s contest against the Giants to make room for southpaw Gregory Soto, who was acquired earlier this weekend from the Orioles. The 29-year-old lefty posted a solid 2.19 ERA across 12 1/3 innings (14 appearances) this season for the Mets.
Jones' power production can't be ignored
James Schiano evaluates the potential of New York Yankees top prospect Spencer Jones, explaining why the 24-year-old outfielder's power production can't be ignored as he's compiled 29 home runs in the minors this season.
  • NYM 3rd Baseman #27
Mark Vientos is not in the lineup for Sunday night’s showdown against the Giants.
Vientos has surfaced in trade rumors ahead of Thursday’s deadline, with USA TODAY’s Bob Nightengale reporting this weekend that the White Sox have made it clear they want him included in any potential deal for Luis Robert Jr. It’s been a disappointing season overall for the 25-year-old third baseman, but moving on from him could prove short-sighted for New York unless it’s part of a deal for a bona fide star. The Mets have the infield depth to consider such a move, making this a situation worth monitoring closely.
  • PIT Center Fielder
Pirates OF prospect Edward Florentino homered for the third consecutive contest on Sunday for Low-A Bradenton.
One of the fastest-rising prospects in dynasty leagues, Florentino’s rapid ascent has continued at Low-A following a dominant 29-game run in the Rookie-level Florida Complex League to open the season. The 18-year-old prodigy offers a tantalizing blend of plus raw power, above-average athleticism and decent plate skills — the kind of toolset that screams long-term fantasy relevance. He’s batting .283 with seven homers and 16 steals in 28 games as one of the youngest hitters in the pitcher-friendly Florida State League.
  • LAA Center Fielder #27
Mike Trout told reporters Sunday that he remains shut down from outfield drills due to left knee soreness.
Trout elaborated that he’s been dealing with a decent amount of soreness in his surgically-repaired knee and remains without a definitive timeline to return to playing right field. The 33-year-old generational talent added that he’s been feeling it while running the bases and taking swings recently, which certainly doesn’t sound good. He’ll likely be limited to DH for the final two months.
  • HOU 3rd Baseman #15
Astros general manager Dana Brown said during a pregame radio interview Sunday that Isaac Paredes (hamstring) will receive a second opinion next week.
It’s an ominous update. Brown noted that Paredes’ right hamstring strain — already believed to be significant based on comments from manager Joe Espada earlier this week — is “a little more severe than we had projected.” With just two months remaining in the regular season, there’s a real chance the 26-year-old third baseman doesn’t make it back. It’s a tough blow for both Houston and fantasy managers, as Paredes had been enjoying a strong year at the plate.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #38
Kyle Bradish (elbow) will make another minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Double-A Chesapeake.
Bradish struck out four and allowed one run over two innings on Thursday in his rehab debut for High-A Aberdeen. The 28-year-old righty will likely require a handful of additional tune-up outings to continue building up his pitch count and stamina, but he figures to make it back to Baltimore by late August.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #68
Tyler Wells (elbow) will make his first minor league rehab start on Wednesday for Double-A Chesapeake.
Wells remains a good distance away from making it back to Baltimore as he wraps up his rehabilitation process from last year’s elbow surgery. The 30-year-old should make it back at some point in late August or early September.
  • ATL Catcher #77
Braves signed C Jair Camargo to a minor league contract.
Camargo latches on with Atlanta just a few days after being released by the Twins. The 26-year-old backstop doesn’t have much of a path to at-bats in the big leagues with rookie Drake Baldwin and veteran Sean Murphy splitting the catching duties in the majors. He’ll serve as valuable organizational depth at the Triple-A level.
  • FA Shortstop #79
    Braves released INF José Devers.
Devers was cut loose earlier this weekend playing just 29 games this season at Triple-A Gwinnett. The 25-year-old infielder was a notable prospect with the Marlins a couple years ago, but has appeared in just 24 games in the big leagues since 2021.
  • LAA 3rd Baseman #5
Yoán Moncada (hand) is out of the lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Mariners.
Moncada appears to have avoided serious injury since precautionary X-rays came back negative for any fractures after he was hit by a pitch on the right hand by Mariners starter George Kirby during Saturday’s game. The 30-year-old third baseman has been plagued by physical issues this season, which have limited him to just 42 games in his Angels debut. He’s presumably day-to-day heading into Monday’s series opener against the Rangers.
