The 34-year-old All-Star first baseman isn’t expected back until Tuesday’s series opener against the Padres.

    Aaron Civale struggled in a losing effort against the Blue Jays on Tuesday evening, giving up five runs on seven hits over his four frames.
    The 30-year-old right-hander also walked two batters on the night and didn’t record a single strikeout. All of the damage done against him came during a five-run uprising in the third inning that included a solo blast off the bat of Davis Schneider. Civale got just one swing and miss on 79 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of only 19 percent. He’ll carry a 1-6 record, 5.17 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP into Sunday’s first-half finale against the Guardians.

    Luis Arraez went 1-for-3 with a solo homer in San Diego’s 1-0 win over the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
    Arraez’s solo homer off Merrill Kelly in the seventh inning would end up being the only run scored by either team in Tuesday’s pitchers duel between Kelly and Nick Pivetta. It was just the fifth homer of the season for the 28-year-old infielder. He’s hitting .293/.327/.409 with 39 runs scored and 35 RBI Across 371 plate appearances.

    Robert Suarez tossed a clean ninth inning with one strikeout to record the save against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
    Suarez was summoned to close out Tuesday’s contest in the ninth inning with a one-run lead. He induced a ground out and a line out before striking out the final batter to secure the win and his 26th save of the season.

    Nick Pivetta struck out seven batters over 5 2/3 scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
    Pivetta was outstanding against the Diamondbacks, holding them scoreless into the sixth inning while collecting seven strikeouts. He scattered two hits and walked three batters, tossing 66 of 104 pitches for strikes. Pivetta is lined up for one more start before the break, taking a 3.07 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 114/27 K/BB ratio across 102 2/3 innings into a matchup against the Phillies in San Diego on Sunday.

    Merrill Kelly allowed one run with four strikeouts over seven innings in a loss against the Padres on Tuesday.
    Kelly was outstanding on Tuesday despite taking the tough-luck loss against the Padres. He held San Diego off the board until the seventh inning, giving up a solo homer to Luis Arraez for the only run of the game. Kelly scattered three other hits and no walks while striking out four batters. The 36-year-old right-hander will take a 3.41 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, and a 107/29 K/BB ratio across 111 innings into a start against the Angels in Anaheim on Sunday.

    Jake Burger went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI to power the Rangers to a 13-1 win over the Angels on Tuesday.
    Burger drove in a run with a base hit in the fourth inning, then plated two more runs with another single in the fifth. With the Rangers up by nine runs in the seventh, Burger took infielder Kevin Newman deep for a solo homer to extend the Texas lead. It was the third multi-hit game in Burger’s last four contests. The 29-year-old slugger is hitting .232/.264/.409 with 11 homers and 33 RBI across 273 plate appearances.

    Corey Seager went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and a walk against the Angels on Tuesday.
    Seager led off the fourth inning with a walk and scored on a double by Wyatt Langford. He added a base hit to start the fifth, then took Sam Aldegheri deep for a solo homer in the sixth. It was Seager’s sixth home run in his last 11 games. The 31-year-old slugger is hitting .256/.359/.471 with 13 homers, 35 runs scored, and 28 RBI across 262 plate appearances.

    Wyatt Langford went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI, two runs scored, and a walk against the Angels on Tuesday.
    Langford got the scoring started for the Rangers with a two-run double in the fourth inning before scoring on a double by Evan Carter. He later added two more runs on a homer off infielder Kevin Newman in the eighth to give the Rangers 13 runs on the day. The 23-year-old outfielder is up to 14 homers while slashing .231/.311/.425 with 36 runs scored, 35 RBI, and 11 steals across 309 plate appearances.

    Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run -- zero earned -- with six strikeouts over six innings in a win over the Angels on Tuesday.
    The Angels got the leadoff man on base in the first inning on an error and scored an unearned run on a base hit by Nolan Schanuel. Eovaldi settled in to scatter four more hits over five scoreless innings, striking out six batters over his six innings on his way to a win. The 35-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 1.62 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and an 86/13 K/BB ratio across 83 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Astros in Houston on Sunday.

    José Soriano allowed five runs with four strikeouts over four innings in a loss against the Rangers on Tuesday.
    Soriano cruised through three innings before running into trouble in the fourth. He walked the bases loaded and gave up five runs on two doubles and a base hit. Soriano got out of the inning, but his day would be done at 82 pitches with four strikeouts. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 95/52 K/BB ratio into a start against the Diamondbacks in Anaheim on Sunday.
