Smith heads to Tampa Bay after being selected in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft and posting a .284/.402/.470 triple-slash line with nine homers and 28 steals across 77 games this season for Low-A Modesto. The 20-year-old outfielder has flashed five-tool impact potential, but it’s going to be awhile before we figure out if he’ll put everything together at the highest level. He’s a worthwhile lottery ticket for Tampa Bay as they attempt to rebuild on the fly.

Correa was responsible for all four of the Twins’ runs in just his third game back since returning from injury. He drove in a run on a fielder’s choice in the first inning and singled in another in the fifth inning. His bases-loaded two-run single in the top of the 10th inning, gave the Twins a 4-2 advantage. Correa is hitting .315 with a .910 OPS and 51 RBI on the year.

Not only did Jansen have some command issues with two walks, but his velocity was down. Cora said that he was good enough to get through the inning in terms of health, but this is a situation to monitor; especially with the Red Sox closer to lottery status than playoff contention.

Gimenez’ stolen base was his 30th of the season. He’s hitting just .250 on the year, but has eight home runs and 60 RBI to go along with the steals.

Naylor now has 31 home runs on the year. He hit two solo shots off Bailey Ober with one coming in the second inning and the other in the seventh inning. Naylor had one home run in his last 22 games entering play Wednesday. He’s hitting .245 with a .789 OPS and 105 RBI on the year.

Floro was awful with the Diamondbacks with a 9.37 ERA and 1.65 WHIP after being acquired by Arizona at the deadline. The right-hander is now free to sign with a new team, but may need to wait until 2025 to find a new home.

Ober gave up four hits, walked none and struck out 12. He was excellent. The 12 strikeouts were a season-high, but the Twins scored only two runs while Ober was in the game. Ober is 12-7 with a 3.84 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 180 strikeouts in 168 2/3 innings on the year. The 29-year-old right-hander is set to face the Marlins at home next week.

Bibee gave up five hits, one walk and struck out five. He’s allowed three runs or less in each of his last four starts and has a 3.04 ERA with 24 strikeouts in 23 2/3 innings in that time. Bibee is 11-8 with a 3.56 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 180 strikeouts in 166 2/3 innings. The 25-year-old right-hander is set to face the Red at home next week.

Donovan put the Cardinals on the board with a two-run blast off Jake Woodford in the second inning. He added a base hit in the third, then drew a walk in the seventh before scoring on a double by Jordan Walker. The versatile 27-year-old is up to 13 homers, 63 runs scored, and 66 RBI while slashing .271/.338/.408 across 610 plate appearances.

Winn’s only hit came in a big spot. After the Pirates took a one-run lead in the sixth, Winn took David Bedar deep for a game-tying solo homer to lead off the seventh. It was the 14th home run of the season for the 22-year-old shortstop. He’s slashing .271/.318/.411 with 75 runs scored, 51 RBI, and 11 steals across 595 plate appearances.

Cook got the start in center field on Wednesday and slugged his first career homer off Sonny Gray, a three-run blast in the sixth inning to give the Pirates the lead. He added a base hit to lead off the ninth. The 25-year-old outfielder is 5-for-24 in his first big-league action.
