ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports the Diamondbacks are finalizing a trade with the Marlins for left-hander A.J. Puk.
It’ll be slugging prospect Deyvison De Los Santos heading to Miami along with minor league outfielder Andrew Pintar. It’s a phenomenal landing spot for Puk to settle in as a high-leverage complement to veteran stopper Paul Sewald. The 29-year-old southpaw has been a revelation in relief over the last few months since moving to a full-time relief role back in mid-May, compiling a sparkling 2.08 ERA and 33/6 K/BB ratio across 30 1/3 innings (28 appearances). Meanwhile, the Marlins pick up an extremely intriguing power-hitting prospect in De Los Santos, who boasts a stratospheric 1.011 OPS with 28 homers in 87 games this season between Double-A Amarillo and Triple-A Reno. The biggest question he’ll need to answer for fantasy managers is whether his plate skills are strong enough to survive at the highest level.

Cole Ragans (shoulder) looked terrific in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Omaha on Sunday, racking up seven strikeouts over three innings of one-run baseball.
Ragans allowed just two hits in the contest and didn’t walk a batter. The lone tally against him came on a solo shot off the bat of James Triantos in the third inning. The 27-year-old southpaw threw just 45 pitches in the outing (34 strikes), so he’s likely to need at least one additional rehab start before he’s cleared to return to the Royals.
Athletics pitcher Morales 'is really impressing'
Eric Samulski talks about Athletics rookie Luis Morales, who has allowed just four earned runs in five starts this season, explaining why the 22-year-old "can rack up some strikeouts" even though he has command issues.

Cardinals optioned RHP Andre Granillo to Triple-A Memphis.
The Cardinals plan to promote Nick Raquet from Triple-A Memphis on Monday and unfortunately to make room Granillo wound up being the odd-man out in the Cardinals’ bullpen. The 25-year-old hurler has registered a 4.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and an 18/7 K/BB ratio over 21 innings in 14 appearances with the big league club.
  • STL 2nd Baseman #13
According to Katie Woo of The Athletic, the Cardinals plan to designate Garrett Hampson for assignment on Monday.
That will clear a spot on the active roster for the return of Alec Burleson from the injured list. The team will also select the contract of Nick Raquet from Triple-A Memphis, taking the roster spot of Andre Granillo who was optioned out following Sunday’s game. Hampson has hit just .143/.250/.169 in 91 plate appearances between the Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Reds this season.
  • BOS Shortstop #20
Nick Sogard delivered a go-ahead two-run double in the ninth inning on Sunday as the Red Sox topped the Diamondbacks 7-4 in Arizona.
Sogard entered the game as a pinch-hitter for Connor Wong with two men on and two outs in a tied game in the top half of the ninth inning. He then took a 1-1 splitter from Taylor Rashi and smacked it into center field for a two-run double. For the season, the 27-year-old infielder is hitting .254/.324/.343 with zero homers, six RBI and one stolen base across 74 plate appearances with the Red Sox.
  • BOS Shortstop #10
Trevor Story went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI, stolen base and a run scored as the Red Sox triumphed over the Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon in Arizona.
Story got the Red Sox on the board in the fourth inning with an RBI single off of Ryne Nelson. He was then hit by a pitch to open the seventh inning, swiped second base and scored on an RBI knock off the bat of David Hamilton. The 32year-old shortstop had a healthy and productive season for the Red Sox, slashing .262/.308/.436 with 23 homers, 89 RBI and 27 stolen bases.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #44
Aroldis Chapman put on quite a show in the ninth inning against the Diamondbacks on Sunday, striking out all four batters that he faced to protect a three-run lead.
Chapman came on after the Red Sox scored three times in the top half of the ninth inning to take a 7-4 lead. He started the inning by punching out Blaze Alexander. He then got Ildemaro Vargas on a swinging third strike, but Vargas reached on a wild pitch. Not to worry though, as Chapman would go on to strike out Tyler Locklear and Jordan Lawlar to close it out. He has been absolutely sublime this season, posting a minuscule 0.98 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and an 81/14 K/BB ratio over 55 innings while converting 29 of his first 31 save chances.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #66
Brayan Bello pitched decently in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon, allowing three runs on four hits over his six frames.
Bello struck out two batters on the day while issuing one base on balls. The Diamondbacks scored on an RBI single by Blaze Alexander in the second inning, on a wild pitch in the fourth and on an RBI double off the bat of Gabriel Moreno in the sixth inning. Bello got seven whiffs on 91 pitches on the day, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 19 percent. The 26-year-old hurler will carry a 3.12 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 114/51 K/BB ratio (152 2/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Yankees on Saturday.
  • ARI Catcher #14
Gabriel Moreno went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored as the Diamondbacks fell to the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon.
Moreno led off the second inning with a single and scored the Diamondbacks first run on an RBI single off the bat of Blaze Alexander. He then delivered an RBI double off of Brayan Bello in the sixth inning that increased their lead to 3-1. With his two-hit attack, the 25-year-old backstop is now slashing .277/.331/.432 with seven homers, 32 RBI and one stolen base on the season.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #19
Ryne Nelson posted a quality start in a tough-luck no-decision against the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon, allowing just one run on three hits over six strong innings.
Nelson walked three batters on the afternoon while striking out three. The only damage done against him came on an RBI single off the bat of Trevor Story in the fourth inning. He exited with a 3-1 lead, but his chances of earning a victory evaporated the inning after he left. Nelson got 11 swings and misses on 105 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 25 percent. He has been terrific in 30 appearances (20 starts) for the Diamondbacks this season, posting a 3.48 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and a 118/36 K/BB ratio over 137 innings. He’ll try once again to earn that elusive eighth victory when he takes on the Twins in Minneapolis on Saturday.
  • LAA Right Fielder #7
Jo Adell went 1-for-4 and clubbed his 35th home run of the season on Sunday afternoon, powering the Angels to a 4-3 victory over the Athletics.
Adell victimized Athletics’ right-hander Luis Severino, ambushing a first-pitch sinker for his 415-foot (107.9 mph EV) two-run shot in the opening inning, giving the Angels an early 2-0 edge. That would be Adell’s only hit in the contest, but it played a critical role in the victory. For the season, the 26-year-old slugger is now hitting .243/.303/.507 with a career-high 35 homers and 94 RBI.
