Liam Hendriks (elbow) still hopes to return this month after suffering a setback earlier this week at Triple-A Worcester.
Hendriks, who is in the final stages of his lengthy rehabilitation from last year’s Tommy John surgery, was unable to make back-to-back rehab appearances this week due to the setback, which would’ve been the final hurdle before being cleared to make his season debut. The 35-year-old veteran reliever has reeled off six scoreless appearances on his rehab assignment, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be activated in the near future. The Red Sox could certainly use his help in the late innings, especially with closer Kenley Jansen dealing with a lat issue.
