  • LAD Shortstop #3
Chris Taylor is likely to go on the injured list after leaving Wednesday’s game with a groin injury.
James Outman will be called up if Taylor lands on the injured list, though he might not play very much with Jason Heyward back starting against righties. Enrique Hernández figures to see more time with Taylor out.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #31
Liam Hendriks (elbow) still hopes to return this month after suffering a setback earlier this week at Triple-A Worcester.
Hendriks, who is in the final stages of his lengthy rehabilitation from last year’s Tommy John surgery, was unable to make back-to-back rehab appearances this week due to the setback, which would’ve been the final hurdle before being cleared to make his season debut. The 35-year-old veteran reliever has reeled off six scoreless appearances on his rehab assignment, but it doesn’t sound like he’s going to be activated in the near future. The Red Sox could certainly use his help in the late innings, especially with closer Kenley Jansen dealing with a lat issue.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #23
FishOnFirst.com’s Isaac Azout reports Max Meyer is headed to the injured list.
Meyer was slated to take the ball on Sunday against the Phillies, but that doesn’t appear to be happening anymore. No word yet on the specific injury or severity. Even if it winds up being just a minimum stay on the injured list, it’ll likely limit Meyer to just one or two additional outings before the regular season wraps up. The 25-year-old former top prospect has surrendered at least four earned runs in four of his last five outings since August 11 and holds a calamitous 5.68 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 46/19 K/BB ratio across 57 innings (11 starts) this season at the highest level.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher
Rangers RHP prospect Kumar Rocker struck out eight and allowed two runs over five innings on Friday for Triple-A Round Rock.
Rocker has been appointment viewing his last few outings, tallying 18 punchouts, while allowing just five baserunners in a pair of starts since arriving at Triple-A Round Rock. The 24-year-old has clearly re-established himself as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball in the wake of last year’s Tommy John surgery. At this point, we can’t rule out the possibility that he gets a late-season cup of coffee with the Rangers.
  • COL Left Fielder #73
Rockies OF prospect Zac Veen blasted a solo homer on Friday for Triple-A Albuquerque.
Veen, who was selected ninth overall in the 2020 MLB Draft, has gone deep four times in 12 games since being promoted back in late August to Triple-A Albuquerque. The 22-year-old speedster offers some five-category appeal for fantasy managers once he reaches the majors. It wouldn’t be shocking if he got a late-season cameo with the Rockies.
  • CHC Right Fielder #17
Cubs OF prospect Owen Caissie launched two homers on Friday for Triple-A Iowa.
Caissie drilled a grand slam and also added an additional solo shot to record his sixth career multi-homer performance. The -year-old outfielder pairs strong plate skills with a smooth left-handed swing, which should enable him to hit for both average and power at the highest level. He holds a strong .275/.375/.478 triple-slash line with 17 homers and nine steals across 114 games this season for Triple-A Iowa.
  • NYM Center Fielder #83
Mets OF prospect Drew Gilbert belted a three-run homer on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse.
Gilbert has gone deep seven times over his last 15 games as he continues to build a compelling case to earn a late-season debut with the Mets. The 23-year-old was shipped to New York as the centerpiece of last year’s Justin Verlander trade and is on the doorstep of making it to the majors.
  • NYY Center Fielder #78
Yankees OF prospect Spencer Jones went 0-for-5 with five strikeouts on Friday for Double-A Somerset.
It’s definitely not what you want. Jones has struck out a staggering 194 times in 511 plate appearances this season at the Double-A level. That’s just a shade below 40 percent of the time. It’s fair to wonder if the towering 23-year-old slugger will make enough contact to survive at the highest level. Given his performance this season in the upper minors, he’s done little to assuage those concerns.
  • WAS Starting Pitcher
Nationals RHP prospect Jarlin Susana struck out 10 and allowed one run over five innings on Friday for High-A Wilmington.
Susana logged his second consecutive double-digit strikeout performance as his meteoric rise through Washington’s system continues unabated. The dynamic 20-year-old righty has compiled a strong 4.34 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 157/48 K/BB ratio across 103 2/3 innings (24 starts) this season between High-A Wilmington and Low-A Fredericksburg. His ability to miss bats is going to translate to the highest level and make him an immediate fantasy contributor once he arrives.
  • SEA Shortstop
Mariners SS prospect Colt Emerson went 2-for-6 with two RBI and a pair of stolen bases on Friday for High-A Everett.
Emerson is one of the most promising fantasy prospects in Seattle’s loaded farm system, despite the fact he’s struggled quite a bit over the last month as a 19-year-old at the High-A level. He’s been limited to just 68 games overall this season due to injury, but remains one of the better prospects out there from a dynasty standpoint. There will be divergent opinions, but it’s not outlandish to think that he’s a top-25 prospect heading into 2025.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #35
Alex Cobb has been scratched from Saturday’s start against the Dodgers due to a blister issue.
Cobb was originally slated to face the Dodgers this weekend, but that’s no longer happening. The oft-injured 36-year-old veteran has been effective, when healthy, over the last few years, which keeps him on fantasy managers’ radar screens. He developed a small bister surface on the inside of the middle finger on his right hand during last Sunday’s outing against the Pirates. No word on when he’ll be ready to take the ball again. It’ll be Gavin Williams and Tanner Bibee moving up in Cleveland’s rotation to start this weekend at Dodger Stadium.
