Ryne Nelson allowed four runs with two strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Wednesday.
Nelson worked around a walk and a base hit in the first inning before the Royals put a run on the board with a single and a double in the second. Kansas City brought three more runs in to score in the fourth on a walk, two hits, a groundout, and a wild pitch. Nelson settled in to give the Diamondbacks two more innings of work before his day was done. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 4.85 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and a 70/24 K/BB ratio across 98 1/3 innings into a start against the Nationals in Arizona on Tuesday.
