Rotoworld

  • NYM Shortstop #11

Jose Iglesias is starting at second base and batting seventh on Wednesday.
Iglesias had a day off on Thursday but will be back in the lineup with Jeff McNeil shifting back to right field, Tyrone Taylor in center field and both Dj Stewart and Harrison Bader on the bench. Iglesias has been tremendous since being called up on May 31st and is a career .281 hitter, so his solid batting average should not be treated as a fluke. If you need batting average with the chance for solid counting stats in a good lineup, Iglesias could fill that need.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #40

Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports that the Angels will recall Sam Bachman from Triple-S Salt Lake before Friday’s game against the Orioles.
Bachman will join Christian Moore as former first-round picks that are joining the Angels. The 25-year-old has pitched well in Triple-A, but is strictly a reliever and not one who will get save opportunities.
Casparius may get good ratios as Dodgers starter
Eric Samulski analyzes the Dodgers moving Ben Casparius into the starting rotations and what he will bring to fantasy managers in his new role.
  • SF 3rd Baseman #26
ESPN’s Buster Olney reports that Matt Chapman’s hand injury could sideline him for the remainder of June.
Chapman was placed on the injured list with right-hand inflammation, and the team will have the 32-year-old visit with a specialist Friday. Casey Schmitt will likely get the majority of starts at third with Christian Koss occasionally filling in, and this will almost assuredly not be a minimum stint on the injured list for Chapman.
  • TB Relief Pitcher #55
Rays acquired RHP Forrest Whitley from the Astros for cash considerations.
Whitley was designated for assignment Sunday, and he has a new home a little less than a week later. The 27-year-old was once considered the top pitching prospect in baseball, but is nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Tampa Bay will hope to unlock his potential, but fantasy managers cannot bet on it.
  • MIN Right Fielder #9
Trevor Larnach is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s game against the Astros.
Larnach will take a seat on the bench 1-for-10 in the three-game series against the Rangers. Matt Wallner will be the designated hitter with Willi Castro handling right field, and Brooks Lee will be the second baseman.
  • SEA Center Fielder #4
Mariners sent OF Leody Taveras outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
Taveras went unclaimed after hitting the waiver wire, which isn’t a huge surprise considering how badly he’s struggled with both Texas and Seattle along with a (relatively) high salary. Taveras will need to be added back to the 40-man roster to rejoin the Mariners.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Mets placed RHP Kodai Senga on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.
Senga will be out for at least two weeks, but it’ll likely be a longer stint than the minimum requirement. The Mets recalled reliever Max Kranick from Triple-A to replace Senga on the active roster, but they’ll need to make an adjustment to the rotation in the coming days.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #32
Mets recalled RHP Max Kranick from Triple-A Syracuse.
Kranick is officially up as the replacement for Kodai Senga (hamstring). The right-hander has been solid as a middle-relief option for the Mets when called upon with a 3.51 ERA and 23/3 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #48
White Sox general manager Chris Getz told reporters that Jonathan Cannon (back) will make a rehab start soon.
Getz didn’t mention a specific date, nor did he say what level that start would be mad at. Cannon has been out of action since the start of June with a strained lower back, and assuming his rehab start goes well, he could be back in the Chicago rotation in the latter portion of June.
  • CHC Catcher #15
Carson Kelly is not in the starting lineup for Friday’s bout versus the Pirates.
Kelly will get the day off with Paul Skenes on the mound for the Pirates. Reese McGuire will handle catching duties and hit ninth.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #54
Keider Montero will work as the bulk reliever during Friday’s game against the Reds.
Brant Hurter will be the opener for Friday’s game. Montero worked behind an opener in his last outing as well, and it’s a way to keep the 24-year-old from seeing the Cincinnati lineup face the right-hander multiple times. He still has a chance to qualify for a win with the bulk assignment, but there are better streaming options for Friday’s slate.
