  • LAA Shortstop #2
Angels activated INF/OF Luis Rengifo from the 10-day injured list.
Rengifo is back at designated hitter and batting second on Tuesday night against the division-rival Mariners following a two-week absence due to right wrist inflammation. The 27-year-old shortstop has been a revelation this season for fantasy managers, thanks to an unexpected uptick in the batting average and stolen base departments. He’s batting a career-best .315 (79-for-251) with six homers and a career-high 22 stolen bases across 269 plate appearances through 69 games.
  • KC First Baseman #18
Yuli Gurriel (hamstring) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Twins.
It was an encouraging sign to see Gurriel back in Kansas City’s lineup on Friday evening following a two-game absence due to a mild hamstring strain. It’ll be Salvador Perez taking a turn at first base with Freddy Fermin handling the catching duties. The 40-year-old figures to continue playing everyday at first base for the Royals down the home stretch. There’s minimal appeal here for fantasy managers outside of extremely deep mixed leagues.
  • MIA Shortstop #79
José Devers (hand) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Phillies.
Devers suffered an apparent left hand injury on an eight-inning collision at first base when he tried to corral an errant throw from third baseman Connor Norby. The 24-year-old infielder went 1-for-4 in a pair of contests for the Marlins after being brought up earlier this week from Triple-A Jacksonville.
  • MIA Left Fielder #12
Jesús Sánchez (back) is in the lineup for Saturday’s contest against the Phillies.
Sánchez was back in Miami’s lineup on Friday night after missing a pair of contests due to back spasms.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #37
Marlins activated RHP Anthony Bender from the 15-day injured list; optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bender has wrapped up a minor league rehab assignment and will remain stationed at Triple-A Jacksonville as extra relief depth. The 29-year-old has been out since mid-August due to a shoulder impingement.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins recalled RHP George Soriano from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Soriano is back in the majors as extra middle relief depth as Miami deals with an avalanche of injuries.
  • MIA Second Baseman
Marlins selected the contract of INF Javier Sanoja from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Sanoja rarely strikes out and has put together a strong season in the upper minors, batting .286/.346/.418 with seven homers and 17 steals in 553 plate appearances between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. The 22-year-old offers plenty of defensive versatility and will get his first look in the big leagues over the final few weeks of the year.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #67
Marlins recalled RHP Lake Bachar from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bachar was claimed off waivers earlier this week from the Padres and will join Miami’s bullpen mix this weekend with several pitchers heading to the injured list.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #73
Marlins selected the contract of LHP Jonathan Bermúdez from Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bermúdez made his big league debut back on August 27 and will get another look in Miami’s relief mix with the Marlins overhauling their roster ahead of Saturday’s game against the Phillies.
  • MIA Center Fielder #58
Marlins placed OF Derek Hill on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 5, with a left shoulder impingement.
No word yet on how much time Hill is going to wind up missing. The 28-year-old speedy outfielder has posted four homers, 17 RBI and four steals in just 25 contests since arriving in Miami back in early August.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #53
Marlins placed RHP Calvin Faucher on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to September 5, with a right shoulder impingement.
It’s unclear where the Marlins will turn in the late innings as Faucher had emerged as their primary closer since the trade deadline when they jettisoned both Tanner Scott and A.J. Puk. It’ll likely be John McMillon getting the first shot, if a save situation arises. The 28-year-old righty, who has converted six saves to go along with a stellar 2.75 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 27/9 K/BB ratio across 19 2/3 innings (20 appearances) since July 19, is most likely done for the rest of the season, but that remains to be seen. There should be some clarity on his status in the coming days.
