  • CIN Relief Pitcher #31
Brent Suter was removed from Friday’s appearance against the Nationals due to tightness in his left shoulder.
No word yet on the severity of the injury, as the 34-year-old southpaw is still being evaluated. Expect the Reds to give an update on his status before Saturday’s game — as well as perhaps making a roster move to replace him in the bullpen if he requires a trip to the injured list.
  • STL Left Fielder #33
Brendan Donovan is not in the starting lineup for the Cardinals on Thursday against the Reds.
Since Thomas Saggese was called up earlier this week, he has started every single game with the Cardinals rotating out another player in the lineup each game. One game Masyn Winn sat, the next game Lars Nootbaar sat, and now Brendan Donovan will sit. It’s a bit of a frustrating situation for fantasy managers because you’ll never know who will sit in which game.
  • COL Outfielder #22
Nolan Jones is not in the starting lineup for the Rockies on Thursday.
After two games off, Jones was back in the lineup for the Rockies on Wednesday. With a left-handed pitcher on the mound on Thursday, Jones will sit again which is frustrating for fantasy managers. At this point in the season, given how frustrating a season it has been for Jones, there’s no reason for the Rockies to keep him out of the lineup. Hunter Goodman will start in right field and bat seventh with Jordan Beck sliding to left field.
  • STL Starting Pitcher #72
Tink Hence exited his start at Double-A on Wednesday night with trainers after just 29 pitches.
After a seemingly normal first inning, Hence began the second inning with a groundout but threw four of the last six pitches in the dirt. He was met on the mound by the Springfield infield, his manager, and an athletic trainer before walking off the mound with the trainer. The Cardinals have not yet revealed any more information about the nature of his injury, but Cardinals’ fans and fantasy managers are holding their breath for good news on the Cardinals’ top pitching prospect.
  • DET Shortstop #32
Tigers optioned INF Ryan Kreidler to Triple-A Toledo
With Wenceel Pérez back from the IL, Kreidler will be sent back to the minors where he’ll serve as organizational depth.
  • DET Right Fielder #46
Tigers reinstated OF Wenceel Pérez (oblique) from the 10-day injured IL.
Pérez has been on the shelf since August 10th with an oblique injury. He spent a week on a rehab assignment and is now back and ready to go. The 24-year-old is hitting .242/.298/.386 with 49 runs scored, nine homers, 32 RBI, and nine steals in his first MLB season, but he should return to a part-time role. Ryan Kreidler was sent to the minors in a corresponding move.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
Shohei Ohtani went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, a walk, and a stolen base in the Dodgers’ 10-8 win over the Cubs on Wednesday.
Ohtani led off the bottom of the first inning with his 47th homer of the season off Jordan Wicks. He then drew a walk in the second inning and stole stole second base. Ohtani later drove in two more runs with a base hit in the third. The 30-year-old superstar moves closer to the first 50/50 season, with a career-high 47 homers and 48 steals while slashing .292/.375/.617 across 656 plate appearances.
  • LAD Second Baseman #25
Tommy Edman went 2-for-5 with two homers and four RBI against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Edman had a big day at the plate for the Dodgers on Wednesday, starting with a two-run homer off Jordan Wicks in the first inning. He later slugged a second home run in the game, another two-run shot off Trey Wingenter. The 29-year-old is now hitting .300/.321/.500 with four homers, 13 RBI, and five steals across 84 plate appearances.
  • CHC Left Fielder #27
Seiya Suzuki went 1-for-3 with a solo homer, two runs scored, and two walks against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Suzuki drew a walk in the first inning and scored on a base hit by Isaac Paredes. He then took Bobby Miller deep for a solo homer in the third. He drew a second walk in the ninth inning but was caught stealing third for a crucial out as the Cubs fell short of the comeback. The 30-year-old outfielder is slashing .274/.352/.481 with 20 homers, 66 RBI, and 14 steals across 525 plate appearances.
  • CHC Center Fielder #24
Cody Bellinger went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer, two runs scored, and two walks against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Bellinger has had an excellent series against his former team. He drew a walk in the first inning and scored on a double by Michael Busch. With two runners on in the fifth, he took Bobby Miller deep for a three-run blast. Bellinger later drew another walk in the ninth. The 29-year-old is hitting .266/.329/.431 with 17 homers, 64 runs scored, 66 RBI, and nine steals across 508 plate appearances.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #45
Michael Kopech allowed one run in the ninth inning and recorded the save against the Cubs on Wednesday.
Kopech got the call to close out the game in the ninth with a three-run lead over the Cubs. He walked three straight batters with no outs to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Isaac Paredes would drive in a run on a sacrifice fly. Seiya Suzuki was then caught stealing third as the Cubs attempted a double-steal. Kopech then recorded the final out on a strikeout for his 13 save of the season.
