  • CHC Relief Pitcher #66
Julian Merryweather (shoulder) fired a scoreless inning on Monday in a minor league rehab appearance in the Rookie-level Arizona Complex League.
Merryweather has gotten through three minor league rehab outings so far without any issues and figures to be ready to return to Chicago’s bullpen mix shortly after the All-Star break. The hard-throwing 32-year-old reliever has been out since mid-April due to a right shoulder strain.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #47
Jakob Junis allowed one run in six innings and got a no-decision against the Braves on Wednesday.
Junis gave up two hits, walked none and struck out six. It was another solid start for Junis, who pitched well enough to win but the Reds scored only one run on the night. He’s allowed two runs in 19 innings over four starts for Cincinnati. Junis has a 2.61 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 48 strikeouts in 62 innings on the year. The 32-year-old right-hander is set to face the Guardians on the road next week.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #56
Spencer Schwellenbach allowed one run in six inning and got the win in the Braves’ 7-1 victory over the Reds on Wednesday.
Schwellenbach gave up five hits, walked two and struck out five. The win was his seventh of the season. Schwellenbach continues to show promise in his rookie season. He’s allowed three earned runs or less in 13 of his last 14 starts. Schwellenbach has a 2.77 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 78 innings in that time. He has a 3.61 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 118 strikeouts in 109 2/3 innings on the year. The 24-year-old right-hander is set to face the Mets at home next week.
  • SD Right Fielder #23
Fernando Tatis Jr. went 1-for-4 with a solo home run against the Astros on Wednesday.
The home run was Tatis Jr.'s 19th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Kaleb Ort in the eighth inning. Tatis Jr. has been on fire recently. He’s 12-for-33 (.363) with five home runs and nine RBI in his last eight games. Tatis Jr. is hitting .282 with an .837 OPS and 46 RBI on the season.
  • SD Third Baseman #13
Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with two solo home runs against the Astros on Wednesday.
Machado now has 29 home runs on the year. He hit a solo shot off Framber Valdez in the sixth inning and another solo shot off Kaleb Ort in the eighth inning. Machado has been hot in September so far. He’s 20-for-62 (.322) with six home runs and 21 RBI in 15 games in September. Machado is hitting .279 with an .814 OPS and 104 RBI on the year.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #59
Framber Valdez allowed one run in seven innings and took the loss against the Padres on Wednesday.
Valdez gave up five hits, walked two and struck out six. He pitched well enough to win, but the Astros were shutout in the loss. Valdez has allowed one or zero runs in seven of his last eight starts. He has a 1.18 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings in that time. Valdez is 14-7 with a 2.85 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 165 strikeouts in 170 2/3 innings on the year. The 30-year-old left-hander is set to face the Mariners at home next week.
  • SD Starting Pitcher #84
Dylan Cease tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings and got the win in the Padres’ 4-0 victory over the Astros on Wednesday.
Cease gave up two hits, walked none and struck out five. The win was his 14th of the season. Cease started the ninth inning but was pulled after allowing two baserunners. He’s been a fantasy ace in his first season in San Diego. Cease has a 3.42 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 220 strikeouts in 184 1/3 innings. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Dodgers on the road next week.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Bo Bichette was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup with a right middle finger contusion.
Well, he made it one game. Addison Barger replaced him in the lineup, with Ernie Clement moving from third base to short. Bichette is probably day-to-day.
  • LAA Center Fielder #39
Jordyn Adams hit a walk-off single in the 13th to give the Angels a 4-3 win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
Adams hit an infield single in the bottom of the 13th to give the Angels the victory. The 24-year-old also drew a walk in one of his better games. Adams seems likely to battle for a roster spot in 2025, but his chances of becoming a regular — and a fantasy relevant one, at that — seem slim.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto walked and stole a base while scoring a run in an extra-inning win over the White Sox on Wednesday.
Neto came off the bench to score the run. The steal is the 30th of the season for the 23-year-old, who has also registered 21 homers and a .735 OPS in his first full year. He may not become a star, but Neto has been a solid fantasy option, and should remain so in 2025.
  • CWS First Baseman #25
Andrew Vaughn hit a solo homer in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
Vaughn was responsible for the only run scored for the White Sox against Jack Kochanowicz. Even with the White Sox failing in historical — and we’re being honest — hysterical fashion, Vaughn has had some decent moments, and he’s now got a 1.007 OPS with four homers in September.
