Mike Yastrzemski tripled and scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth in the Giants’ 3-2 defeat of the Twins on Sunday.
The Twins didn’t have Yastrzemski played to pull, so his modest flyball to the right-center gap barely eluded a diving Manuel Margot and got by him, Yastrzemski went for three on the play, and the Twins threw the relay away, allowing him to score the winning run. It was Yaz’s third hit to go along with one walk in the game. He has eight hits in four games, giving him a .241 average and .752 OPS to end the half. The only previous day this season that he had a better mark in either category was May 2, when he briefly raised his average to .242.
