Ben Lively allowed two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Rays on Sunday.
Lively struck out seven and walked two on the day while inducing nine whiffs on 35 swings for a 26 percent whiff rate and 34 percent CSW. Unfortunately, he allowed solo home runs to Jose Siri and Brandon Lowe, and that was the difference. Lively has been a tremendous surprise for the Guardians, carrying a 3.58 ERA into the second half of the season. As of now, he’s scheduled to start on Saturday against the Padres next week.
