Simeon Woods-Richardson had mixed results in Saturday’s no-decision against the Giants, allowing two runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings.
On the plus side, the right-hander racked up seven strikeouts on the evening while allowing just one base on balls. He kept the Giants off the board completely through the first three frames until Mike Yastrzemski broke through with an RBI single in the fourth. He then gave up an RBI single to Jorge Soler in the fifth inning before turning the ball over to the Twins’ bullpen. Woods-Richardson generated 10 whiffs on 86 pitches on the evening, posting a solid CSW of 30 percent. The 23-year-old hurler finishes his first half with a 3-1 record, 3.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 71/24 K/BB ratio across 82 innings in his 16 starts.

Cubs optioned RHP Nate Pearson to Triple-A Iowa.
No word yet on a corresponding move from the Cubs, expect that to be announced sometime on Tuesday. It could be the return of Porter Hodge to the Cubs’ bullpen or it could be something entirely unrelated. Stay tuned.
Greene back on mound as Reds make playoff push
Hunter Greene will make his return to the mound against the Phillies as they go "full on" for a final playoff push, but Eric Samulski details if fantasy managers are better suited to sit the ace in this tough matchup.
  • TB Center Fielder #80
Rays recalled OF Everson Pereira from Triple-A Durham.
The 24-year-old outfielder returns — exactly 10 days after he was optioned to Triple-A Durham — to provide outfield depth for the Rays. He’ll take the spot of Tristan Peters who was optioned back to Triple-A after going 0-for-9 with five strikeouts over the weekend.

Rays optioned OF Tristan Peters to Triple-A Durham.
It seems like all along the Rays preferred to bring up Everson Pereira from Triple-A Durham, but he needed to be down there for at least 10 days before they could bring him back, so Peters got to spend the weekend in the big leagues. The 25-year-old went hitless in nine at-bats with five strikeouts during his short time with the Rays.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #62
Marlins optioned RHP George Soriano to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Soriano provided the Marlins’ bullpen with a fresh arm over the weekend, giving up four runs on three hits and a walk in his lone inning of work against the Braves. He’ll continue to serve as extra bullpen depth for the Marlins at the Triple-A level. Expect a corresponding move to be announced prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the Guardians in Cleveland.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #55
Pirates activated RHP Chase Shugart from the 15-day injured list.
The 28-year-old right-hander had been shelved since July 8 due to inflammation in his left knee. Before landing on the shelf, he had registered a 3.69 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and a 22/15 K/BB ratio over 39 frames in 32 appearances out of the Pirates’ bullpen. Dauri Moreta was optioned back to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move on Monday.
  • NYM Relief Pitcher #82
Mets activated LHP Brandon Waddell from the 15-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.
The Mets tried to option Waddell to Triple-A Syracuse after the All-Star break, but the optione was rescinded and he was instead placed on the injured list with a right hip impingement. Now that he’s fully recovered, he has been activated and subsequently optioned. He’ll continue to function as excess bullpen depth for the Mets at the Triple-A level.
  • LAD 1st Baseman #26
Dodgers sent 1B Luken Baker outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 28-year-old slugger had been designated for assignment on Friday, but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra depth for the Dodgers at the Triple-A level.
  • ATH Relief Pitcher #66
Athletics activated LHP Brady Basso from the 60-day injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 27-year-old southpaw has been sidelined since spring training due to a strained left shoulder. He has been on a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Las Vegas where he’ll continue to work now that he has been activated from the injured list. The plan is for Basso to continue working out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season and it wouldn’t be surprising to see him get a shot with the A’s before the year ends.
  • ATH Catcher #29
Athletics transferred C Austin Wynns to the 60-day injured list.
The 34-year-old backstop landed on the injured list last week with an abdominal strain. It now appears that it’s a serious enough issue to cost him the remainder of the season, so they’ll move him to the 60-day IL to free up a spot on their active roster. Wynns finishes the season hitting a solid .291/.321/.544 with six homers and 21 RBI in 110 plate appearances between the A’s and Reds.
  • BOS Catcher #75
Carlos Narváez (knee) returned to the Red Sox’ starting lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.
Narváez was held out of the lineup the previous four games due to soreness in his knee, though he came off the bench to catch the final two innings on Sunday. He’ll bat ninth against Astros’ right-hander Cristian Javier on Monday evening in Houston.
