White Sox released RHP Joe Barlow.
The 28-year-old hurler had been pitching at Triple-A Charlotte where he had posted a 9.20 ERA, 2.05 WHIP and an 18/9 K/BB ratio over 14 2/3 innings of work. He’ll attempt to latch on elsewhere on a minor league pact.

Spencer Torkelson is absent from the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the White Sox.
Torkelson sits for the second time in the last five games with Colt Keith at first base and Kerry Carpenter at DH. The 25-year-old slugger still hitting for some over-the-fence pop with six homers over his last 30 games, but he’s batting just .216/.331/.451 during that span. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him cede playing time to Keith now that Carpenter is poised to spend more time at DH with center fielder Parker Meadows back from the injured list.
Abel, Young among top Week 11 waiver-wire targets
Eric Samulski examines the top fantasy baseball waiver-wire targets for Week 11, highlighting Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mick Abel and Seattle Mariners infielder Cole Young.
  • BOS 3rd Baseman #39
Marcelo Mayer is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Angels.
Mayer grabs a seat on the bench for Monday’s contest at Fenway Park after starting eight consecutive games at the hot corner to kick off his big-league career. The 22-year-old top prospect has hit .200 (6-for-30) with 10 strikeouts during that span. He’s going through a bit of an adjustment period as he acclimates to life in the majors, while also playing a new position than he’s accustomed to, so his struggles at the dish aren’t completely unexpected. He’ll turn things around eventually based on his raw talent alone.
  • COL Left Fielder #27
Jordan Beck is not in the lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins.
It’s a rare day off for Beck, who has played virtually every game since late April. The 24-year-old rookie has cooled off a bit at the plate in recent weeks, but he’s still shown that he can make an impact for fantasy purposes as a power/speed combo source with eight homers and seven steals across 49 games this season. It’ll be Sam Hilliard in left field and leading off on Monday night in Miami.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #59
The New York Post’s Joel Sherman reports the Yankees are placing veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco on waivers.
Nothing official from the club yet. Carrasco’s latest stint with the Yankees lasted roughly 24 hours as he was up with the club for Sunday’s series finale against the Dodgers and didn’t end up making an appearance. The 38-year-old veteran figures to pass through waivers and wind up electing free agency. It’s unclear whether there will be an interest on the open market.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez (elbow) will make his final minor league rehab start on Tuesday for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Marlins manager Clayton McCullough confirmed on Monday that Pérez will make his eighth and final rehab start this week before returning to Miami for his long-awaited season debut. The 22-year-old was a revelation as a rookie back in 2023 when he posted a stellar 3.15 ERA and 108/31 K/BB ratio across 91 1/3 innings (19 starts) before missing last season recovering from Tommy John surgery. He’s worthy of a roster spot in all fantasy formats based on his immense upside, but the Marlins are likely to be extremely cautious with his workload in the coming months.
  • ATH Center Fielder #33
MLB.com’s Martín Gallegos reports the Athletics are recalling outfielder JJ Bleday for Monday’s game against the Twins.
Bleday was demoted to the minors to work on his swing back in late May and will return to the Athletics’ lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Twins. Whatever he changed at Triple-A Las Vegas was clearly working since he batted .370 (10-for-27) with a homer and a double in six games. His return likely pushes rookie outfielder Drew Avans back to the minors, but that’s not official yet.
  • BOS 2nd Baseman #28
Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that there’s less urgency to play Kristian Campbell at first base with Romy Gonzalez back from the injured list.
Campbell didn’t end up making his professional debut at the cold corner last week and it doesn’t sound like that’s in the works any more with both Gonzalez and Abraham Toro as option at the position. The 22-year-old top prospect figures to continue splitting time between second base and left field moving forward.
  • COL Starting Pitcher #32
Chase Dollander (forearm) will be activated to start on Tuesday against the Marlins.
Well, that was quick. Dollander faced hitters last week in a live batting practice session and the Rockies are going to bring him back without a minor league rehab assignment. The 23-year-old top pitching prospect hit the injured list back in mid-May with forearm tightness. He’d obviously be of much greater intrigue for fantasy purposes if he wasn’t pitching for Colorado. He’s struggled to a lackluster 6.28 ERA and 38/18 K/BB ratio across 38 2/3 innings (eight starts) this season in his first taste of the majors.
  • DET Center Fielder #22
Tigers activated OF Parker Meadows from the 60-day injured list.
Meadows is in center field and leading off on Monday night against the White Sox in his highly-anticipated season debut. It’ll be interesting to see where he consistently bats in the order; he figured to be the Tigers’ leadoff man against righties before getting hurt this spring and missing the first two months with a nerve problem in his arm. For now, though, he’ll probably hit lower in the order on occasion, and he’ll likely sit against some lefties. Wenceel Pérez and Javier Báez will both likely lose playing time with Meadows back, but the Tigers will still do playing of mixing and matching. Meadows should eventually be helpful in mixed leagues, but it might take a little while as he works to reestablish himself.
  • DET Left Fielder #44
Tigers optioned OF Justyn-Henry Malloy to Triple-A Toledo.
Malloy was hitting .215/.348/.290 while mostly playing against lefties. His patience at the plate ensures a respectable OBP, but he’s going to have to hit for more power in order to stick in the majors. He had just one homer in 115 plate appearances this season.
