  • TB Relief Pitcher #39
Rays recalled RHP Manuel Rodríguez from Triple-A Durham.
Rodríguez has been summoned to rejoin Tampa Bay’s bullpen after veteran reliever Phil Maton was dealt to the Mets ahead of Tuesday’s game against the Yankees. The 27-year-old righty has pitched well in nine relief appearances this season for the Rays with a with a 2.79 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 9/4 K/BB ratio across 9 2/3 innings of work. He figures to operate in middle relief situations moving forward.
  • CLE Starting Pitcher #59
Guardians designated RHP Carlos Carrasco for assignment.
Carrasco was already on the injured list with a hip strain. The Guardians were forced to boot him off the 40-man roster to make space for Myles Straw after Steven Kwan went on the injured list. Carrasco went 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 89 strikeouts in 103 2/3 innings this year.
  • CLE Center Fielder #7
Guardians selected the contract of OF Myles Straw.
Straw is coming up as outfield depth with Steven Kwan going on the injured list. Carlos Carrasco was designated for assignment to make room for Straw on the 40-man roster. Straw hasn’t appeared in the majors this year, but hit .238 with one home run and 29 RBI with the Guardians in 2023.
  • TOR Center Fielder #25
Blue Jays placed OF Daulton Varsho on the 10-day injured list retroactive to September 14th with a right shoulder strain.
With the Blue Jays out of contention, it’s a no-brainer for Varsho to hit the injured list after missing Sunday’s game with shoulder soreness. The 28-year-old hit .214 with 18 home runs and 58 RBI this year.
  • TOR Third Baseman #7
Blue Jays placed INF Will Wagner on the 60-day injured list with left knee inflammation.
It almost goes without saying that Wagner’s season is over. He hit .305 with two home runs and 11 RBI in limited time with Toronto this year. Wagner only hit two home runs and didn’t have a stolen base, but he showed he can hit and that might be enough for him to be a decent fantasy asset in deeper formats in the future.
  • CLE Center Fielder #38
Guardians placed OF Steven Kwan on the 10-day injured list with body fatigue.
This is a tough blow for fantasy managers at this point in the season. Kwan hit .291 with 13 home runs and 12 stolen bases this year. With the Guardians already looking towards the playoffs, expect the club to be cautious with Kwan’s return despite only placing him on the 10-day injured list.
  • TOR Right Fielder #37
Blue Jays recalled INF/OF Steward Berroa from Triple-A Buffalo.
Berroa went 5-for-33 (.152) with no home runs and one RBI in his first taste of the majors with Toronto earlier this year. He had five stolen bases in 24 games, though. Berroa hit .281 with 10 home runs and 47 RBI at Triple-A so Toronto believes it’s worth it to give him another look before the end of the season. He’s not a recommended fantasy option at the moment.
  • TOR Shortstop #11
Blue Jays activated SS Bo Bichette.
Bichette has been out since late July with a calf strain, but will be activated ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Rangers. He hit .222 with four home runs and 30 RBI this year before hitting the injured list. Bichette could provide a good batting average for patient fantasy managers, but is unlikely to be a true difference maker in the last two weeks of the season.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #38
Cubs optioned RHP Trey Wingenter to Triple-A Iowa.
Wingenter has allowed nine runs in five appearances with the Red Sox and Cubs this year. He has a 2.98 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 75 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings at Triple-A this season.
  • CHC Relief Pitcher #48
Cubs recalled RHP Daniel Palencia from Triple-A Iowa.
Palencia has a 7.11 ERA in nine appearances for the Cubs this year. He has a 4.97 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 66 strikeouts in 38 innings at Triple-A. He’s not an option in fantasy at the moment.
  • KC Relief Pitcher #64
Royals recalled RHP Steven Cruz from Triple-A Omaha.
Cruz was recalled as the corresponding move with James McArthur going on the injured list. Cruz hasn’t allowed a run or a baserunner in three appearances for the Royals this year. He has a 3.33 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 56 strikeouts in 51 1/3 innings at Triple-A.
