  • MIN Third Baseman #64
Jose Miranda is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Astros.
Miranda’s reward for reaching in 12 straight at-bats is a rest Sunday for the series finale against the Astros. The 26-year-old will begin the game on the bench with Matt Wallner getting the start after being recalled from St. Paul.
  • WAS Relief Pitcher #51
Nationals designated RHP Jordan Weems for assignment.
Weems is getting the boot for Orlando Ribalta, with Ribalta having his contract selected in the corresponding transaction. Weems was awful in 2024, and the 31-year-old just came off the injured list after missing two weeks with shin splints. There might not be much of a market here.
  • WAS Right Fielder #43
Nationals designated OF Harold Ramirez for assignment.
Ramirez is booted from both the 40-man and active roster to make room for infielder Andres Chapparo. The outfielder struggled for the overwhelming majority of the year in 2024, but a team could have interest in Ramirez on the waiver wire as a bench bat option against lefties.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #65
An MRI revealed that James Paxton is dealing with a partially torn right calf.
Paxton told reporters after the diagnosis that he hopes to pitch again in 2024, but the timeline for him returning from such an injury makes it tough to picture. The left-hander injured the calf in the first inning of Sunday’s start against the Red Sox. There’s a very good chance we don’t see Paxton back on the bump again until 2025.
  • BOS Starting Pitcher #46
Red Sox re-signed RHP Brad Keller to a minor-league contract.
Keller elected free agency after being outrighted off the roster, but he is back with the Red Sox less than a full day later. He provides depth for the Worcester pitching staff.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #46
Angels claimed LHP Brock Burke off waivers from the Rangers.
The Angels picked up both Burke and former St. Louis reliever Nick Robertson off waivers Tuesday. Burke provides some left-handed depth in the bullpen, but he’s been awful in his limited sample in the majors this year with a 9.22 ERA and 2.20 WHIP.
  • LAA Relief Pitcher #70
Angels claimed RHP Nick Robertson off waivers from the Cardinals.
Robertson was designated for assignment by the Cardinals on Sunday, and it didn’t take long for him to find a new home. Robertson will provide some organizational depth for the remainder of 2024, and could see time with the Angels before the season comes to a close.
  • OAK Starting Pitcher #35
Athletics recalled RHP Joe Boyle from Triple-A Las Vegas.
Boyle, 24, has been outstanding in Triple-A as of late with a 1.83 ERA and ridiculous 38/7 K/BB over his 19 2/3 innings. The right-hander has shown some decent moments in the majors, but he’s tough to trust as a fantasy option for a wide variety of reasons.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #39
Athletics designated LHP Kyle Muller for assignment.
Muller is booted from the 40-man roster and the active one to make room for Joe Boyle. The left-hander could see some interest on the waiver wire, but if not will likely report to Triple-A Las Vegas if he goes unclaimed
  • TB Third Baseman #25
Rays optioned INF Curtis Mead to Triple-A Durham.
Mead is booted from the active roster to make room for Junior Caminero with Caminero getting call Tuesday to join the Rays. Mead has performed admirably as of late, and there’s a good chance he’s back at some point this summer. There’s still some long-term upside in his bat even without elite power or speed.
  • TB Third Baseman #13
Rays recalled INF Junior Caminero from Triple-A Durham.
Caminero is heading to Tampa Bay to square off against the Astros on Tuesday. He was widely considered the top prospect still in the minors, and the 21-year-old has hit 13 homers with a .276 average for Durham in 2024. He’s been much better than those numbers as of late, and he’s absolutely worth a roster add in all eligible formats.
