Red Sox activated INF Romy Gonzalez from the 10-day injured list.

Gonzalez had just taken over as Boston’s primary first baseman when he got hurt last month, but he’ll probably take a backseat to Abraham Toro against righties for now and go back to getting most of his starts versus lefties. On the plus side, the Red Sox are facing lefties each of the next two days. Gonzalez is starting and batting fifth tonight. Toro is playing third base over Marcelo Mayer.

With his wife due to give birth any day now, Zach Wheeler won’t start for the Phillies until Friday at the earliest.

The Phillies will start Cristopher Sánchez, Mick Abel and Jesús Luzardo in the three-game series against the Jays that begins Tuesday. They can also move Ranger Suárez up to Friday if Wheeler needs to be pushed back one additional day.

We haven’t heard whether Lamb opted out of if the Giants decided themselves to move on. The 34-year-old veteran big leaguer was hitting .240/.352/.353 for Triple-A Sacramento. He last played in the majors in 2023, when he hit .216/.259/.353 in 54 plate appearances for the Angels.

Catcher prospect Kyle Teel has recently been working out at first base while playing for Triple-A Charlotte.

He’s yet to get into a game at the position. Teel is good enough to stay behind the plate, but so is Edgar Quero, and the White Sox need to have room for both, if not this year, then at least by 2026. Teel is hitting .289/.394/.491 for Charlotte.
