  • TEX Shortstop #5
Corey Seager (hand) is not in the Rangers’ initial starting lineup for Wednesday night’s showdown against the Padres.
Rangers’ skipper Bruce Bochy did say that he’ll talk to Seager before the game though and that there’s a chance he could still be added to the lineup. Either way, that bodes well for his status going forward as he seems very close to a return. Expect him back in action on Thursday if he doesn’t talk his way into Wednesday’s lineup.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #38
Devin Williams (back) will throw a live bullpen Tuesday.
Williams has had a few bullpen sessions as of late, and he’s filling will enough to face live hitters Tuesday. If that goes well, the next step for Williams could be a rehab assignment. Williams has missed all of the season with a stress fracture in his back, and he should return to a stopping role before the end of July if there are no setbacks.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa left Sunday’s game against the Astros with a right finger contusion.
The bad news is that Correa did have to leave the contest after being hit in his right hand. The good news is that it’s just a bruise, and imaging returned negative for the 29-year-old shortstop. Consider Correa day-to-day at this stage, but his status will likely be determined by pain tolerance and swelling for the coming days.
  • NYY Second Baseman #25
Gleyber Torres (groin) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday’s contest against the Red Sox.
There was some hope that Torres could return from his groin injury after being possibly available off the bench Saturday, but the 27-year-old will sit out at least one more game. Oswaldo Cabrera will hit seventh and play second base in Torres’ absence. He should still be considered day-to-day for now.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #37
Athletics optioned LHP Jack O’Loughlin to Triple-A Las Vegas.
O’Loughlin, 24, will head back to Vegas with the Athletics reinstated Kyle Muller (shoulder) off the injured list. O’loughlin will likely be back in a middle-inning role before the summer comes to a close.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #39
Athletics reinstated LHP Kyle Muller off the 15-day injured list.
Muller is back after missing over a month with his shoulder tendinitis. The southpaw will be a multi-inning option for Oakland, and could very well make starts for the Athletics in the coming weeks, if not sooner.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #60
Marlins transferred LHP Ryan Weathers from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Weathers is now off the 40-man roster. The left-hander has a left index finger sprain, and he can’t return to Miami until the start of September now.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #56
Marlins claimed RHP Darren McCaughan off waivers from the Marlins.
McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Guardians last week, and he’ll now report to Triple-A Jacksonville as a member of the Miami organization. It’s doubtful he’ll be anything more than org depth for the Marlins.
  • ARI Second Baseman #4
Ketel Marte (back) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Padres.
Marte was removed from Friday’s lineup with tightness in his back and he wasn’t able to play Saturday, either. The 30-year-old will miss at least one more game with Kevin Newman hitting ninth and playing second base.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw two simulated innings before Sunday’s game.
Kershaw continues to make progress from his shoulder surgery, and the left-hander is getting closer to a rehab appearance. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Kershaw’s next outing would aim for three simulated innings. Kershaw is expected back not long after the All-Star break.
  • SD Catcher #12
Luis Campusano is catching and hitting ninth against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Campusano was activated off the injured list Friday, but this is his first time in the starting lineup since he was reinstated. Kyle Higashioka retreats to the bench with Campusano in the starting nine.
