  • CIN Catcher #35
Reds designated C Austin Wynns for assignment.
Wynns will likely pass through waivers again after spending a couple days up with Cincinnati as extra catching depth with Tyler Stephenson away from the team on paternity leave.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #60
Marlins transferred LHP Ryan Weathers from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Weathers is now off the 40-man roster. The left-hander has a left index finger sprain, and he can’t return to Miami until the start of September now.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #56
Marlins claimed RHP Darren McCaughan off waivers from the Marlins.
McCaughan was designated for assignment by the Guardians last week, and he’ll now report to Triple-A Jacksonville as a member of the Miami organization. It’s doubtful he’ll be anything more than org depth for the Marlins.
  • ARI Second Baseman #4
Ketel Marte (back) is not in the lineup Sunday against the Padres.
Marte was removed from Friday’s lineup with tightness in his back and he wasn’t able to play Saturday, either. The 30-year-old will miss at least one more game with Kevin Newman hitting ninth and playing second base.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #22
Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) threw two simulated innings before Sunday’s game.
Kershaw continues to make progress from his shoulder surgery, and the left-hander is getting closer to a rehab appearance. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Kershaw’s next outing would aim for three simulated innings. Kershaw is expected back not long after the All-Star break.
  • SD Catcher #12
Luis Campusano is catching and hitting ninth against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Campusano was activated off the injured list Friday, but this is his first time in the starting lineup since he was reinstated. Kyle Higashioka retreats to the bench with Campusano in the starting nine.
  • MIN Shortstop #4
Carlos Correa left Sunday’s game versus the Astros with an apparent injury.
Correa was hit in the hand by a pitch, and after being visited by trainers, the shortstop was forced to leave the game. The Twins will assuredly have the star shortstop undergo testing to determine the severity of the injury. Kyle Farmer is replacing Correa in the lineup.
  • MIN Third Baseman #64
Jose Miranda is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Astros.
Miranda’s reward for reaching in 12 straight at-bats is a rest Sunday for the series finale against the Astros. The 26-year-old will begin the game on the bench with Matt Wallner getting the start after being recalled from St. Paul.
  • SEA Center Fielder #44
An MRI on Julio Rodríguez’s right quad showed no stuctural damage.
Rodríguez is out of the lineup Sunday against the Blue Jays, but the outfielder is being kept out for precautionary measures according to manager Scott Servais, and he could be available off the bench. Even with the 23-year-old struggling for most of the 2024 campaign, this is obviously welcome news to fantasy managers who hope to see better things from Rodríguez in the second half of 2024.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #58
Dodgers optioned RHP Gus Varland to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Varland gets the heave-ho with Justin Wrobleski up from OKC to get the start against the Brewers on Sunday. Based on previous patterns, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see the 27-year-old back with the Dodgers before the end of July.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher
Dodgers selected the contract of LHP Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Wrobleski is up and will make a start Sunday against the Brewers. He’s pitched well thus far in Triple-A, but it’s a tough first matchup for the southpaw. Gus Varland was sent down in the corresponding transaction.
