  • COL Relief Pitcher #40
Tyler Kinley received a victory for pitching a scoreless 10th inning Monday against the Brewers.
Only the truly desperate for saves should be rostering Kinley, but he is the top option in the Colorado pen at the moment. The scoreless outing tonight was his fifth in a row, as he lowered his ERA to 8.02.
  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Yordan Alvarez was removed from Saturday’s game against the Twins a couple of innings after he was plunked in the right knee by a pitch.
Alvarez remained in the game to run the bases for himself but was walking slowly and hobbling as he made his way to first base. When his spot in the order came back around in the eighth inning, Grae Kessinger was sent out to pinch-hit for him. The fact that the Twins had a six-run lead at the time may have played a role in his removal, but be sure to pay close attention to his status after the game and prior to Sunday’s contest.
  • SEA Center Fielder #44
Julio Rodriguez was removed from Saturday’s ballgame against the Blue Jays in the first inning due to an apparent injury.
No word yet on what exactly occurred, but Rodriguez was pinch-hit for by Ty France the first time that he strolled to the plate in the home half of the first inning. Expect the Mariners to provide an update on the superstar outfielder’s status as soon as more information is available.
  • NYY Catcher #93
Ben Rice went 3-for-5 with three homers and seven RBI to power the Yankees to a 14-4 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
What a day for the rookie. Starting at first base and hitting leadoff, Rice got the scoring started with a solo blast off Josh Winckowski in the first inning. He later launched his second homer of the game, a three-run shot off Chase Anderson in part of a seven-run fifth inning for New York. Rice then went yard for a third time with another three-run homer in the seventh. The 25-year-old is off to an impressive start with the Yankees, slashing .294/.383/.588 with four homers and 12 RBI across 60 plate appearances.
  • NYY Center Fielder #24
Alex Verdugo went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Verdugo launched a two-run homer off Josh Winckowski in the third inning, then knocked a base hit in the fifth before scoring on a bases loaded walk as the Yankees brought seven runs in to score in the frame. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .246/.302/.401 with ten homers and 45 RBI across 364 plate appearances.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Yankees on Saturday.
Devers knocked a base hit in the third inning to put the Red Sox on the board. He then stole second and scored on a single by Masataka Yoshida. Devers later took Gerrit Cole deep with a solo homer in the fifth. The 27-year-old third baseman is up to 19 homers while slashing .286/.372/.568 with 54 runs scored and 53 RBI across 333 plate appearances.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #45
Gerrit Cole allowed four runs with eight strikeouts across 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Cole worked through two scoreless innings, including a base-loaded jam in the second that he escaped with a strikeout. A double, walk, and three base hits would bring three runs in to score for Boston in the third. Cole struck out the side in the fourth inning before Rafael Devers took him deep for a solo shot in the fifth. That would be it for Cole at 90 pitches. He struck out a season-high eight batters. Through four starts, the 33-year-old right-hander holds a 6.75 ERA, 1.62 WHIP, and a 19/8 K/BB ratio across 17 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Orioles in Baltimore on Friday.
  • BOS Relief Pitcher #25
Josh Winckowski allowed three runs with four strikeouts over 3 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Saturday.
Winckowski got the start for the Red Sox on Saturday and was chased by the fourth inning. Ben Rice took him deep for a solo homer to lead off the first inning. Winckowski worked out of a bases loaded jam in the second, then surrendered a two-run homer to Alex Verdugo in the third. He allowed a leadoff double in the fourth inning and recorded the first two outs before his day was done at 66 pitches. The 26-year-old right-hander holds a 3.23 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and a 32/14 K/BB ratio across 39 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the Royals in Boston on Friday.
  • PHI Left Fielder #12
Kyle Schwarber (groin) is scheduled to run the bases on Saturday.
Schwarber is poised to complete his final step towards returning this weekend and appears a near-lock to return on Tuesday when the Phillies kick off a highly-anticipated series against the Dodgers.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #27
Edward Cabrera (shoulder) will start on Sunday against the White Sox.
It’s a nice landing spot for Cabrera, who has looked sharp in a handful of recent minor league rehab starts. The 26-year-old righty has been out since early May due to a right shoulder impingement. He’s showcased immense talent in the majors over the last few years, but hasn’t quite put it all together consistently enough for fantasy managers to make a significant impact. He should be rostered in deeper mixed leagues, even if there are going to be fluctuations from start-to-start from a results standpoint.
  • CHC Starting Pitcher #28
Kyle Hendricks was removed from Saturday’s start against the Angels due to lower back tightness.
It’s concerning because Hendricks missed a couple weeks earlier this season due to a back issue. The 34-year-old righty was tagged for two runs on four hits over two innings before leaving Saturday’s contest at Wrigley Field. He’ll presumably undergo some additional testing to determine the severity of the issue.
