  • STL Relief Pitcher #66
Cardinals designated LHP Kolton Ingram for assignment.
Ingram is removed from the 40-man roster to make room for Jacob Bosiokovic with Bosiokovic called up to St. Louis in the corresponding transaction. Ingram will now be on the waiver wire, and if he goes unclaimed there’s a good chance he remains in Triple-A Memphis.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #19
Orioles sent LHP Cole Irvin outright to Triple-A Norfolk.
The 30-year-old southpaw was jettisoned off of the Orioles’ 40-man roster following their trade deadline acquisition of Trevor Rogers. He passed through waivers unclaimed though and will continue to serve as extra rotation depth at the Triple-A level until he’s needed once more.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #21
Dodgers’ skipper Dave Roberts said Friday that Walker Buehler would make at least one additional minor league rehab start before rejoining the team’s rotation.
Buehler struggled again in Thursday’s outing at Triple-A Oklahoma City, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over 3 1/3 innings of work. He did manage to strike out six though and got 11 swinging strikes on 86 pitches in the contest, good enough for a CSW of 27 percent. Sounds like fantasy managers will have to wait one more week before rolling the dice on the inconsistent right-hander.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that Freddie Freeman is unlikely to return during the team’s weekend series against the Athletics.
Freeman is currently away from the team on the family medical leave list as his son, Maximus, battles a severe case of Guillain-Barré syndrome, which is a rare neurological condition. The Dodgers are obviously going to give him as long as he needs, so don’t expect Freeman to return to action until he’s ready to do so.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #59
Mariners designated RHP Brett de Geus for assignment.
The Mariners claimed Jonathan Hernandez off of waivers from the Rangers on Friday but in order to do so they had to free up a spot on their 40-man roster. Unfortunately for de Geus, that was him this time around. The 26-year-old hurler has pitched well in four appearances with the M’s this season, posting a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and a 2/2 K/BB ratio over 3 1/3 frames. He could attract some interest on waivers.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #48
Mariners placed RHP Gregory Santos on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to August 1, with right biceps inflammation.
This move seemed extremely likely after it was announced Wednesday that Santos was heading for an MRI exam on his injured biceps. No word yet on the severity of the issue or how long the M’s expect him to be shelved for. JT Chargois joined the team on Friday and will take Santos’ spot in the Mariners’ bullpen.
  • SEA Relief Pitcher #72
Mariners claimed RHP Jonathan Hernandez off of waivers from the Rangers.
The hard-throwing 28-year-old right-hander had been designated for assignment by the Rangers after they acquired Andrew Chafin from the Tigers on Tuesday. Hernandez, 28, posted a 5.05 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and a 36/26 K/BB ratio across 41 innings with the Rangers this season.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #28
Bobby Miller was scratched from his minor league rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday due to adductor tightness.
It’s an issue that the 25-year-old hurler felt initially after his last bullpen session and again on Friday. The Dodgers don’t feel like it’s a big issue, but they’re going to take every possible precaution with their prized hurler. There had been rumblings that Miller could have rejoined the Dodgers following this outing, but that’s obviously not going to happen now.
  • TEX Relief Pitcher #65
Rangers recalled LHP Walter Pennington from Triple-A Round Rock.
Pennington, 26, was just acquired from the Royals in a deadline deal for Michael Lorenzen. He’ll get his first chance to work out of the Rangers’ bullpen with Max Scherzer (shoulder) landing on the injured list on Friday. With his stuff, there’s a chance that he could stick around if he starts out well with his new ballclub.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #31
Rangers placed RHP Max Scherzer on the 15-day injured list, retroactive to July 31, with right shoulder fatigue.
Scherzer experienced the soreness in his shoulder following Tuesday’s start against the Cardinals. It’s not yet known how long the Rangers expect him to be sidelined for, but he’ll miss a couple of weeks at a minimum and most likely longer than that. That makes him a very tough hold in redraft leagues with the season starting to wind down. Walter Pennington was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move on Friday.
  • SEA Center Fielder #10
Victor Robles (hip) returned to the Mariners’ starting lineup for Friday evening’s showdown against the Phillies.
Robles hasn’t played since Tuesday when he left their game against the Red Sox with a hip issue that has been bothering him for some time. It sounds like a couple of days off did him some good though, as he’s right back out there in center field and batting leadoff against Tyler Phillips and the Phillies on Friday night.
