  • MIA Catcher #4
Nick Fortes delivered an RBI single on Wednesday in the Marlins’ loss to the Royals.
Fortes’ second-inning single off Royals starter Brady Singer accounted for their lone tally on Wednesday afternoon in a low-scoring showdown at Kauffman Stadium. The 27-year-old backstop boasts a .419 OPS with two homers in 157 plate appearances over 58 games this season.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #32
Brewers acquired RHP Aaron Civale from the Rays for SS Gregory Barrios.
It doesn’t come as a total shock to see another analytically-driven front office rolling the dice on Civale after he spent the first couple seasons of his career in Cleveland and Tampa Bay’s pitching development engines. The 29-year-old righty was phenomenal last year for the Rays following a midseason trade from the Guardians, but his strikeout rate has regressed back to previous level this year and he’s struggled to a pedestrian 5.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 84/27 K/BB ratio across 87 innings (17 starts). Even if the strikeouts don’t return, Civale represents an upgrade for Milwaukee’s injury-ravaged starting rotation moving forward, even if it’s a tough landing spot for fantasy purposes from a park factors standpoint.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Kodai Senga (shoulder) recorded six strikeouts over 2 2/3 perfect innings on Wednesday in a minor league rehab start for High-A Brooklyn.
Things went swimmingly for Senga in his long-awaited return to game action as he threw 35 pitches (25 strikes) and fanned six of the nine batters he faced. The 31-year-old righty, who has been on the shelf since spring training due to a shoulder issue, will need several additional rehab outings before he’s ready to make his season debut. He’ll progress to facing some higher level minor-league hitters in the near future.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #45
Dodgers sent RHP J.P. Feyereisen outright to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Feyereisen went unclaimed on waivers after being removed from Los Angeles’s 40-man roster to free up a spot for lefty reliever Matt Gage. The 31-year-old righty has struggled this season in 10 relief appearances for the Dodgers after missing the last couple years due to injury.
  • ARI First Baseman #53
Christian Walker went 4-for-5 with two home runs, three runs scored, and four RBI in a 12-4 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.
After drawing a walk in the first inning, Walker knocked a base hit in the third for his second hit. He followed with a solo homer in the fourth, his second in as many days against the Dodgers. Walker added a double in the sixth and scored on a home run by Lourdes Gurriel Jr. before blasting his second homer of the game with a three-run shot in the ninth. The 33-year-old slugger is hitting .267/.339/.506 with 20 homers and 59 RBI across 369 plate appearances.
  • ARI Left Fielder #12
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Gurriel Jr. put the Diamondbacks on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first inning to bring home the first run. He later slugged a two-run homer in the sixth to extend the lead. Gurriel Jr. then doubled in the eighth and scored on a double by Eugenio Suárez. The 30-year-old outfielder is hitting .268/.301/.430 with 12 homers and 51 RBI across 339 plate appearances.
  • LAD First Baseman #5
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-2 with a three-run homer and two walks against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Freeman put the Dodgers on the board with a three-run blast off Cristian Mena in the first inning. He then drew a pair of walks and added a base hit in the eighth to reach in all four plate appearances. The 34-year-old first baseman is hitting .302/.404/.516 with 13 homers, 54 runs scored, 56 RBI, and three steals across 381 plate appearances.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #64
Cristian Mena allowed four runs with two strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Mena got into trouble immediately in this one, giving up a hit and a walk to put two runners on for Freddie Freeman, who took him deep for a three-run blast to put the Dodgers ahead. Teoscar Hernandez followed with a solo homer. Mena tossed two more scoreless frames and end his day after three innings with two strikeouts. He’ll likely retreat back to Triple-A following the spot start against the Dodgers.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #35
Gavin Stone allowed four runs with three strikeouts over three innings in a no-decision against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
This wasn’t one Stone’s best outings as the Diamondbacks chased him after just three frames. A base hit and two walks loaded the bases before the Diamondbacks brought a run in on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. He worked around a bases-loaded jam in the second, then gave up three runs, including a two-run blast by Gabriel Moreno, in the third. That was it for Stone, ending his day with a 3.03 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 73/28 K/BB ratio across 92 innings. He’ll take on the Phillies in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
  • BAL First Baseman #32
Ryan O’Hearn went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, three RBI, and a walk in the Orioles’ 4-1 win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
O’Hearn had a big day at the plate against Seattle, starting with a walk in the first inning. Then he doubled in the third to put the Orioles on the board with two runs and scored on a single by Ryan Mountcastle. O’Hearn later slugged a solo homer off Logan Gilbert to extend the lead in the fifth. The 30-year-old first baseman is slashing .294/.355/.485 with 11 homers and 37 RBI across 259 plate appearances.
  • SEA Catcher #29
Cal Raleigh went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Orioles on Wednesday.
Raleigh’s solo homer in the sixth inning off Keegan Akin provided the only offense the Mariners could muster on Wednesday against Baltimore. The 27-year-old backstop is hitting .201/.288/.394 with 15 homers, 51 RBI, and four steals across 313 plate appearances.
