  • MIA Starting Pitcher
SportsGrid’s Craig Mish reports the Marlins are calling up pitching prospect Valente Bellozo to start on Wednesday against the Royals.
Bellozo boasts an inflated 5.02 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 57/15 K/BB ratio across 52 innings (11 appearances, 10 starts) this season between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. The 24-year-old righty, who was acquired back in April from the Astros in exchange for infielder Jacob Amaya, will be making his big-league debut. Given all of the injuries to Miami’s starting rotation, it wouldn’t be shocking if he stuck around for more than a quick cup of coffee.
  • TOR Shortstop #28
Ernie Clement went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and four RBI to lead the Blue Jays to a 10-6 win over the Giants on Wednesday.
After going yard against the Giants on Tuesday, Clement went deep once again, blasting a three-run homer off Logan Webb in the fifth inning. He drove in a fourth run with a base hit in the sixth. Clement led off the eighth with a single and scored again on a double by George Springer. The 28-year-old infielder is hitting .261/.276/.432 with six homers, 22 runs scored, 21 RBI, and three steals across 183 plate appearances.
  • TOR Right Fielder #4
George Springer went 2-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI against the Giants on Wednesday.
Springer doubled in the sixth inning to drive in two runs, capping off a seven-run frame for the Blue Jays. He drove in a third run with another double in the eighth to extend the lead. The 34-year-old outfielder is hitting .220/.308/.362 with 10 homers, 41 runs scored, 34 RBI, and nine steals across 352 plate appearances.
  • SF Catcher #14
Patrick Bailey went 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored, and three walks against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Bailey was perfect at the plate on Wednesday, reaching in all five plate appearances. He drew a walk in the first inning and scored on a base hit by Thairo Estrada. After drawing another walk in the second, Bailey singled and scored once again in the fifth. He walked for a third time in the sixth before going yard with a solo homer in the ninth. The 25-year-old backstop is hitting a solid .280/.356/.430 with seven homers and 30 RBI across 248 plate appearances.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #40
Chris Bassitt allowed three runs with six strikeouts over five innings in a win over the Giants on Wednesday.
Bassitt allowed two runs in to score in the first inning on three singles and a walk. He battled control issues in the second inning, walking the bases loaded before escaping the jam. Bassitt worked a clean third and fourth, then gave up a third run on a single and a double in the fifth. That would be it for the 35-year-old right-hander. He picked up his eighth win to go with a 3.52 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and a 100/45 K/BB ratio across 107 1/3 innings at the All-Star break.
  • SF Starting Pitcher #62
Logan Webb allowed seven runs across five innings, giving up eight hits and a walk with four strikeouts against the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Webb was cruising through four innings, allowing just one baserunner until a pair of base hits put two runners on with one out in the fifth. Ernie Clement drove them all in, putting the Blue Jays ahead with a three-run blast. Things would unravel for Webb in the sixth as Toronto recorded four straight hits to drive in two runs and knock Webb from the game. Two inherited runners would come in to score in what was a seven-run inning. The 27-year-old right-hander will take 3.47 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and a 107/28 K/BB ratio across 124 1/3 innings into the All-Star break.
  • LAA Shortstop #9
Zach Neto went 3-for-4 with a home run, double, two runs scored, and three RBI to lead the Angels to a 7-2 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.
Neto now has five hits in two games since getting a breather on Monday. He put the Angels on the board with a base hit in the second inning to drive in a run before scoring on a home run by Mickey Moniak. Neto drove in a second run with a double in the third, then took Daniel Robert deep for a home run in the eighth. The 23-year-old shortstop is hitting .250/.297/.432 with 12 homers, 35 runs scored, 42 RBI, and 14 steals across 331 plate appearances.
  • LAA Center Fielder #16
Mickey Moniak went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer against the Rangers on Wednesday.
Moniak took Michael Lorenzen deep for a three-run blast in the second inning to give the Angels a four-run lead. The 26-year-old outfielder is up to five homers while slashing .195/.242/.319 with 28 RBI and five steals across 240 plate appearances.
  • TEX Center Fielder #3
Leody Taveras went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Angels on Wednesday.
A two-run homer by Taveras off Griffin Canning to start the fifth inning would be all the Rangers would bring in to score against the Angels on Wednesday. The 25-year-old outfielder is hitting .236/.304/.349 with six homers, 35 runs scored, 24 RBI, and 11 steals across 323 plate appearances.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #47
Griffin Canning allowed two runs with three strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Rangers on Wednesday.
Canning worked through four scoreless frames, stranding a baserunner in each inning. After the leadoff man got on in the fifth, Leody Taveras took Canning deep for a two-run homer. He recorded one more out before leaving with the bases loaded. Hans Crouse came in to leave the runners stranded. The 28-year-old right-hander heads into the All-Star break with a 4.84 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 70/36 K/BB ratio across 102 1/3 innings.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #23
Michael Lorenzen allowed five runs over five innings in a loss to the Angels on Wednesday.
This was a rough one for Lorenzen. He walked two batters in the second inning before Zach Neto brought a run in to score with a base hit. Mickey Moniak followed with a three-run homer. Neto doubled in a fifth run for the Angels in the third inning. Lorenzen tossed two more scoreless frames, ending his day after five innings. The 32-year-old right-hander ends the first half with a 3.52 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and a 65/44 K/BB ratio across 92 innings.
