Brewers optioned RHP Carlos Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville.
Rodriguez heads back to the minors after compiling a cringe-inducing 7.30 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 9/3 K/BB ratio across 12 1/3 innings (three starts). The 22-year-old pitching prospect will get some additional seasoning out of the spotlight, but figures to get another look at some point down the road.

Marcus Stroman (knee) allowed one run — zero earned — over 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday for Double-A Somerset.
Stroman punched out six batters, issued two walks and threw 46 pitches (27 strikes) in his rehab debut. He was sitting in the 89-mph range with his sinker, according to The Athletic’s Brendan Kuty. The 34-year-old veteran righty is aiming to rejoin New York’s rotation mix at some point in the coming weeks as he wraps up his rehabilitation process from knee inflammation.
Inside the fantasy impact of Chapman's injury
Eric Samulski unpacks the significance of San Francisco Giants third-baseman Matt Chapman's hand injury that will cause him to miss more than the 10-day IL minimum.
  • TEX Starting Pitcher #61
Cody Bradford (elbow) faced hitters on Wednesday in a 22-pitch live batting practice session.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters they’re aiming to have Bradford built up to handle roughly five innings by early July. The 27-year-old lefty would presumably be an option for the club’s rotation mix at that point. He’s been out since spring training recovering from an elbow sprain.
  • SF Catcher #13
Giants selected the contract of C Logan Porter from Triple-A Sacramento.
Porter got into 11 games for the Royals back in 2023, which is the last time he appeared in the majors. The 29-year-old backstop provides San Francisco with some extra catching depth while starter Patrick Bailey is on the shelf with a neck strain.
  • SF Catcher #14
Giants placed C Patrick Bailey on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to June 8, with a neck strain.
San Francisco has reversed course and decided to give Bailey some extra time off to rest and recover after experiencing neck spasms earlier this week. It’ll be Andrew Knizner handling the bulk of the catching duties in his absence.
  • SF Shortstop #1
Giants designated INF Osleivis Basabe for assignment.
Basabe came over from the Rays in an offseason trade and hasn’t appeared in a game this year for San Francisco. The procedural move frees up a spot on the Giants’ 40-man roster for backup catcher Logan Porter.
  • ARI 3rd Baseman #28
Eugenio Suárez went 3-for-4 and hit a grand slam for his 19th homer as the Diamondbacks defeated the Mariners 5-2 on Wednesday.
Suárez went 6 1/2 seasons in between grand slams before breaking the drought last August. He wound up hitting two in 10 days then, and now he has three in just eight at-bats with the bases loaded this season. He also singled twice today for his third three-hit game of the year.
  • ARI Starting Pitcher #57
Eduardo Rodriguez held the Mariners to two runs in 6 1/3 innings for a win Wednesday.
He allowed six hits, walked one and struck out five. Rodriguez has been effective in both starts since returning from shoulder inflammation, though not in a way that inspires a ton of confidence. It’s best to leave him in the free agent pool ahead of his next start against the Blue Jays.
  • ARI Relief Pitcher #18
Shelby Miller struck out two in a scoreless ninth for a save Wednesday versus the Mariners.
With Justin Martínez back on the injured list, Miller figures to get most of the save chances in Arizona. Maybe Kevin Ginkel could overtake him at some point, but he definitely has a lot of work to do first.
  • SEA Starting Pitcher #22
Bryan Woo gave up five runs in six innings Wednesday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.
Woo lacked his usual swing-and-miss ability today and wound up with just three strikeouts. He’s surrendered 12 runs over 18 2/3 innings and posted a 17% strikeout rate in his last three starts. In his first 10 outings this year, he had a 2.69 ERA and a 24% strikeout rate. His velocity is fine, but it seems like something might be off with his slider. His next start is due to come at home against the Red Sox.
  • SEA Shortstop #39
Donovan Solano went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer of the year Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.
Solano was a surprisingly easy out for the first two months of the season, but he’s managed to 8-for-22 with four RBI in his last nine appearances. It’s raised his OPS from .331 to .490. Strictly a platoon player right now, Solano would need to keep this up for a while to have much chance of starting against righties.
