Blake Snell (groin) struggled in his first minor league rehab start at Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over just 1 2/3 innings.
None of the five outs that the 31-year-old southpaw did record came via the strikeout. Snell threw 51 pitches in contest, 27 of those for strikes. The expectation was always that Snell would require at least two rehab starts before he was ready to return, and given his struggles on Sunday it’s likely that they’ll want to see better before they bring him back.
