  • CWS First Baseman #32
Gavin Sheets went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored on Sunday against the Tigers.
Sheets has been something of a bright spot in what’s otherwise been a very dim White Sox season. His strikeout rate has gone down for the fourth consecutive season and his .739 OPS leads the team.
  • LAD Relief Pitcher #99
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters Sunday that Joe Kelly (shoulder) won’t be ready to return before the All-Star break.
Kelly will need a rehab assignment before returning, and the right-hander will not be able to complete that assignment before the break. The 36-year-old has been on the injured list since May 6 because of his shoulder trouble, and he’ll likely pitch in the middle-innings once he’s activated off the 60-day IL.
  • PIT First Baseman #44
Rowdy Tellez hit a two-run homer to help the Pirates to a win over Atlanta on Sunday.
Tellez doubled the Pittsburgh lead with a two-run homer off Spencer Schwellenbach in the fifth inning. The 29-year-old has gone deep just four times in his 196 at-bats in 2024, and his slash of .230/.286/.322 doesn’t offer much fantasy relevance from the first base position.
  • PIT Shortstop #15
Oneil Cruz hit a two-run homer Sunday in a 4-2 victory for the Pirates over Atlanta.
Cruz also singled and walked. The 25-year-old absolutely obliterated a 452-foot shot off Spencer Schwellenbach to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead with Jack Suwinski on base at that time. Cruz continues to frustrate in what is essentially his first full season of MLB action, but games like this one remind that there are very few players in the sport who have as much talent.
  • PIT Relief Pitcher #45
Aroldis Chapman allowed a run but still picked up a save Sunday against Atlanta.
  • PIT Starting Pitcher #26
Bailey Falter allowed just a run over five innings to get a win Sunday against Atlanta.
Falter only allowed two hits, and he struck out five. He did have some control issues however with four free passes and 49-of-81 pitches counting for stikes. The 27-year-old lowers his ERA to 3.87 while improving his win-loss record to 4-6. Falter is scheduled to face the Mets next weekend, and fantasy managers can probably do better in terms of potential streaming options.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #56
Spencer Schwellenbach allowed four runs in five innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday.
Schwellenbach didn’t have many issues in the first four innings of work while holding Pittsburgh scoreless, but that changed in the fifth. He allowed a pair of two-run homers to Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez to turn a strong outing into a mediocre one for the 24-year-old. He was able to strike out seven against two walks in an outing that looked better than the box score suggests. Schwellenbach is back on the bump Saturday against the Phillies.
  • DET Left Fielder #8
Matt Vierling was scratched from the lineup Sunday with left foot soreness.
Vierling will miss at least a game with the foot injury, which was picked up during Saturday’s game against the Angels. The 27-year-old will sit with Riley Greene moving over to center field and Jake Rogers inserted into the lineup as the designated hitter.
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Juan Soto (hand) is back in the starting lineup and hitting second while playing right field against the Blue Jays on Sunday.
Soto was originally not in the lineup, but the 25-year-old is feeling well enough to get back out there after missing Saturday’s contest with a contusion in his hand. It’s most welcome news for fantasy managers who have their superstar back in the lineup. J.D. Davis is back to the bench with Soto returning.
  • ARI Catcher #14
Gabriel Moreno (thumb) could be activated off the injured list as as soon as Tuesday, Jody Jackson of the Diamondbacks reports.
Moreno was placed on the injured list last Saturday with a sprained left thumb, and he’ll be eligible for activation Tuesday. The 24-year-old may get a couple extra days, but the Diamondbacks already announced they don’t believe he needs a rehab assignment, so it would take something unforeseeable for him not to be back before the middle of the week.
  • TOR Relief Pitcher #57
Blue Jays acquired RHP Yerry Rodríguez in a trade with the Rangers for RHP Josh Mollerus.
Rodríguez will head to Triple-A Buffalo. The 26-year-old right-hander was designated for assignment after an ugly 7.11 ERA and 28/17 K/BB in his 31 2/3 innings with Texas over the last two seasons. The Blue Jays will hope to unlock his potential, but he’s not likely to be more than organizational depth at this stage.
