  • OAK Catcher #23
Shea Langeliers hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth to give the Athletics a 6-5 win over the Twins on Friday.
With the A’s trailing 5-4, Langeliers took Jhoan Duran deep to give Oakland a 6-5 lead and ultimately the victory. He drove in another run with a single to center in the fifth. Langeliers shows the potential to be a long-term catching option for fantasy teams, but his .207 average makes him a tough sell in one-catcher formats.
  • BAL Right Fielder #25
Anthony Santander went 2-for-5 with two home runs, two runs scored, and three RBI in a 7-3 win over the Blue Jays on Wednesday.
Santander’s two long balls in the first and eighth innings book-ended a nice win for the Orioles. His 34th homer tied Shohei Ohtani for second most in baseball, trailing only Aaron Judge. Santander is perpetually one of the most underrated power hitters in the league and is putting up a ridiculous season.
  • TOR Shortstop #49
Leo Jiménez went 3-for-4 with three doubles and a run scored on Wednesday against the Orioles.
OK Jiménez, we see you. All three of his doubles were hit in the air and harder than 97 MPH and his first looked like it was going to sneak over the fence down the left field line. Jiménez has started in 20 out of 25 games and Bo Bichette is still yet to start a rehab assignment, so he’ll have some more opportunities at shortstop in the short term.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #44
Bowden Francis struck out seven Orioles and allowed two earned runs across five innings in a no-decision on Wednesday.
This was Francis’ best start of the season by far. Anthony Santander took a hanging curveball deep in the first inning, but that was all Francis gave up. He blitzed the Orioles with high fastballs and a mix of splitters and sliders for lefties and righties respectively. One of draft season’s most popular breakout picks, Frances has a chance to prove himself as the Blue Jays’ fifth starter for the foreseeable future with Yusei Kikuchi in Houston.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #28
Trevor Rogers scattered seven hits while allowing two earned runs and striking out just two in a no-decision on Wednesday against the Blue Jays.
Rogers was fortunate to give up just the two earned runs. Toronto put at least one on base in every inning and forced Rogers to navigate through multiple jams. Those seven hits weren’t cheap either: Rogers allowed seven hard hit balls and lots of contact. There hasn’t been much to be encouraged by Rogers’ first two starts with Baltimore. One adjustment of note: he’s drastically reduced the rate he throws his four-seam fastball in favor of more off-speed pitches. Let’s see if it ever amounts to a genuine improvement.
  • MIA Third Baseman #36
Jake Burger walloped a pair of solo home runs on Wednesday evening, helping to power the Marlins to a 6-4 victory over the Reds.
Burger opened the scoring in the ballgame with a first-pitch 399-foot (103.9-mph EV) solo shot off of Andrew Abbott in the home half of the first inning. He then extended the Marlins’ lead to 6-0 with a 422-foot (106.9-mph EV) solo shot in the fifth. With his two-hit night, the 28-year-old slugger is now hitting .239/.285/.439 with 19 homers and 49 RBI on the season.
  • MIA Center Fielder #58
Derek Hill swatted a grand slam in the first inning on Wednesday as the Marlins triumphed over the Reds.
Hill increased the Marlins’ early edge to 5-0 with his two-out, 412-foot (103.9-mph EV) four-run blast off of Andrew Abbott. That would be more than enough run support for Valente Bellozo and company in this one. Hill finished the evening 1-for-3 and is now hitting .254/.288/.476 with a career-high four homers and 13 RBI on the season.
  • MIA Relief Pitcher #53
Calvin Faucher walked the tightrope against the Reds on Wednesday night but managed to escape with a two-run lead intact to earn his second save of the season.
The 28-year-old right-hander took over with a two-run lead to protect in the ninth inning. He issued a one-out walk to Elly De La Cruz and then a double to Tyler Stephenson that put two runners in scoring position. After getting TJ Friedl to fly out to left, he plunked Ty France to load the bases. He was able to bear down though, getting Jeimer Candelario to bounce out to second base to end the ballgame. Faucher looks like he could be the preferred option in the ninth inning and he’s worth a look for those in deeper leagues that are speculating on saves.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #83
Valente Bellozo registered the first victory of his MLB career on Wednesday, hurling 5 2/3 innings of shutout baseball against the Reds.
The 24-year-old right-hander scattered five hits and a pair of walks on the evening while striking out four batters. The Reds loaded the bases against him in the second inning, but Bellozo was able to freeze Jonathan India on a 2-2 fastball to end the threat. He generated nine swings and misses on 92 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 29 percent. He could be worth a look as a streaming option as he brings a 3.05 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and a 19/5 K/BB ratio (20 2/3 innings) into Tuesday’s showdown against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
  • CIN Left Fielder #29
TJ Friedl blasted a grand slam on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to power the Reds past the Marlins in Miami.
Friedl finally got the Reds on the board with his 396-foot four-run shot off of Andrew Nardi in the seventh inning. That pulled them to within two runs, but that would be the extent of their offense. Friedl finished the evening 1-for-4 and also drew a walk. On the season, he’s slashing an underwhelming .218/.316/.376 with six long balls and 28 RBI.
  • CIN Starting Pitcher #41
Andrew Abbott was hit hard in Wednesday night’s loss to the Marlins, giving up six runs on six hits over his five innings of work.
The 25-year-old southpaw did manage to rack up seven strikeouts on the evening while issuing three free passes. Most of the damage done against him came in the opening inning where Jake Burger clubbed a solo homer and Derek Hill added a grand slam. Abbott also surrendered a solo homer to Burger in the fifth. He got 15 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 31 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he brings a 3.70 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and a 104/49 K/BB ratio (126 1/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the Cardinals.
