  • BAL Third Baseman #11
Jordan Westburg (hip) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Yankees.
Westburg missed Wednesday’s game after he was removed from Tuesday’s game following being hit by a pitch. The Orioles had previously said he was day-to-day and that proved true as he’s back at second base and hitting sixth on Thursday. Ramon Urias will play third base as Jorge Mateo heads to the bench.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
The Mets are skipping Christian Scott’s turn in the Triple-A rotation and starting Mike Vasil on Monday night instead.
There is no reported injury for Scott, so skipping his start would seem to be a strong indication that he will be called up to take over Tylor Megill’s spot in the rotation. That could mean a start on Thursday against the Nationals. Scott should be scooped back up in all leagues in which he was dropped.
  • TOR First Baseman #27
Blue Jays removed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (finger) from the starting lineup on Monday.
Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch in the hand yesterday and seemed confident he’d be able to play, but the Blue Jays are pulling him from the lineup with “Right 4th/5th finger discomfort.” It’s likely that his hand just didn’t feel up to the task after batting practice, but it doesn’t seem like a situation that will keep him out too long. Spencer Horwitz will play first base in his absence.
  • TOR Shortstop #7
Isiah Kiner-Falefa was removed from Monday’s starting lineup with a left knee injury.
There are no details yet on the severity of the injury, but we’ll provide an update when we have it. Kevin Kiermaier is now in the game in center field as the Blue Jays juggled the positions for their starting lineup.
  • WAS Right Fielder #43
Harold Ramirez is starting at designated hitter and batting third for the Nationals against the Mets on Monday
The Mets are throwing a left-handed pitcher, so this shouldn’t be a huge surprise, but it’s also Ramirez’s third straight start, including two against righties. The Mets have left-handed pitchers set to start each of the next three games, so Ramirez could have some short-term fantasy value as he looks to carve out a bigger role with his new team.
  • NYM First Baseman #20
According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, rival team execs believe it’s more likely that Pete Alonso is not traded at the deadline.
Nightengale mentioned that “rival teams who have expressed interest” in Alonso are “convinced” he will “definitely stay put as long as the Mets are within five games of the wild-card race.” As of now, the Mets are just two games back and are 12-4 over their last 16 games. If the Mets do keep Alonso beyond the trade deadline, they will need to then decide how badly they want to extend him, but it would take one of the biggest power bats off the trade block this season.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #45
USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reported that “the White Sox intend to trade [Garrett Crochet] by the July 30 trade deadline.”

According to Nightengale, the White Sox “quietly engaged in brief contract extension talks” with Crochet,” but there is “no optimism towards reaching an agreement,” so the team is now intent on moving him. As of now, the White Sox have allegedly had 15 teams call to express interest in Crochet, who is making just $800,000 and is under team control through 2026. Some potential concerns surrounding the left-hander are just how much he’ll pitch over the summer after having already thrown 21 more innings than his entire career total heading into this season. There are some additional concerns about whether “a team acquiring Crochet may have to offer a contract extension for him to lift those innings restrictions in the second half because of the potential of an injury risk.” We should get more clarity on Crochet’s market over the next couple of weeks, but he seems like a strong bet to be dealt.
  • LAA Starting Pitcher #48
Reid Detmers allowed three runs on four hits in six innings while striking out 11 for Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday.
Detmers now has 21 strikeouts in his last two games, which is the good news. The bad news is that he has allowed eight runs in 12 innings over those two starts. The swing-and-miss is nice to see, but Detmers will undoubtedly need to do more to incentivize the Angels to call him back up.
  • MIL Shortstop #6
Brewers designated INF/OF Owen Miller for assignment.
With Garrett Mitchell coming off the 60-day IL, the Brewers needed an extra spot on the 40-man roster, so they decided to move on from Miller, who had been sent to Triple-A at the end of May. Miller had started the year strong for Milwaukee but is hitting just .185 on the season with a 39 percent strikeout rate. He’ll hope to get a shot with another organization.
  • MIL First Baseman #7
Brewers optioned INF Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville.
Black got his second chance with the Brewers this season but rarely played, going 3-for-11 and sitting this entire week before being demoted to make room for Garrett Mitchell to come off the IL. Black has the tolls to be a useful fantasy player, but he might not get the opportunity this season.
  • MIL Left Fielder #5
Brewers activated OF Garrett Mitchell (finger) from the 60-day IL.
Mitchell was set to be the Brewers’ starting center fielder before fracturing a finger in spring training. In 12 games at Triple-A during his rehab stint, he hit .318 with four home runs and four steals. He has the power/speed to produce solid fantasy results while hitting in a good lineup in a good home park. He should be added in most formats. Tyler Black was sent down in a corresponding move.
