  • CIN Third Baseman #33
Reds transferred 3B Christian Encarnacion-Strand from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
There still hasn’t been any word on whether CES will opt for season-ending surgery on his right hand. This officially rules him out until July 7, but there was no chance of him returning prior to the break anyway.
  • COL Right Fielder #9
Brenton Doyle has been dropped to seventh in the Rockies lineup on Monday.
Doyle last hit lower than second on June 10, but this seems appropriate. Doyle has batted just .200/.225/.292 since that date. The Rockies have moved everyone who was batting below Doyle up one spot tonight, with Ezequiel Tovar reclaiming the second spot.
  • COL Left Fielder #15
Hunter Goodman is back on the bench Monday after making his first start in four games Sunday.
It’s like the Rockies stopped viewing Goodman as an option at first base and in right field after Elias Díaz got hurt last month and still haven’t changed that mindset, even though Díaz is back now. Goodman last started at a position other than catcher on June 10. Obviously, Jake Cave is just too good to sit.
  • FA Catcher #54
    Rangers released C Andrew Knapp.
Knapp took advantage of the ability to opt out and will try to find a team that presents him with a better opportunity to resurface as a backup. The 32-year-old former Phillie was hitting .292/.374/.444 for Triple-A Round Rock.
  • FA Left Fielder #12
    Twins released INF/OF Tony Kemp.
Kemp opted out of his deal with the Twins after hitting .279/.358/.436 in 46 games for Triple-A St Paul. His next organization will be his fourth since exiting Oakland as a free agent; he was let go by the Reds this spring and the Orioles in April.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #34
Kodai Senga, out since the beginning of the year with a shoulder injury, will make his first rehab start Wednesday with Single-A Brooklyn.
He’s due to throw 40 pitches his first time out. The Mets haven’t announced a plan beyond that, but if all goes well, four rehab starts and return to the Mets rotation during the final week of July would seem to be a possibility.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
Christian Scott will start for the Mets against the Nationals on Wednesday.
It’s unclear if this will be one and done or if Scott might get to keep the spot for a spell. He certainly deserves a long look; he had a 3.90 ERA and a 25/6 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings over five starts before the Mets sent him down a month ago, and he’s since posted a 2.12 ERA in Triple-A. He’s worth playing in mixed leagues this week.
  • NYM Left Fielder #9
Brandon Nimmo is out of Monday’s lineup after suffering a cut on his forehead when he fell in his hotel room last night.
Fortunately, it doesn’t sound like Nimmo hurt his head beyond he cut. His absence means the Mets have Jeff McNeil in the outfield and José Iglesias at second tonight.
  • FA Relief Pitcher #48
    Rays released RHP Chris Devenski.
Devenski was DFA’d last week after racking up a 6.75 ERA in 26 2/3 innings out of the pen for Tampa Bay. He has a 6.46 ERA in 94 2/3 major league innings since the beginning of 2020.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #45
The Mets are skipping Christian Scott’s turn in the Triple-A rotation and starting Mike Vasil on Monday night instead.
There is no reported injury for Scott, so skipping his start would seem to be a strong indication that he will be called up to take over Tylor Megill’s spot in the rotation. That could mean a start on Thursday against the Nationals. Scott should be scooped back up in all leagues in which he was dropped.
  • TOR First Baseman #27
Blue Jays removed Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (finger) from the starting lineup on Monday.
Guerrero Jr. was hit by a pitch in the hand yesterday and seemed confident he’d be able to play, but the Blue Jays are pulling him from the lineup with “Right 4th/5th finger discomfort.” It’s likely that his hand just didn’t feel up to the task after batting practice, but it doesn’t seem like a situation that will keep him out too long. Spencer Horwitz will play first base in his absence.
