  • COL Relief Pitcher #40
Tyler Kinley picked up the save against the Cardinals on Saturday.
The save was Kinley’s fourth of the season. He now has saves in back-to-back appearances. The Rockies closer situation still seems like a mess, but there might be some clarity if Kinley continues to be the guy in the ninth inning for Colorado.
  • MIN Shortstop #72
Brooks Lee went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer against the Astros on Saturday.
Lee took Hunter Brown deep in the third inning, giving the Twins a six-run lead early in the game. It was Lee’s first career major league home run in his fourth game for the Twins since he was promoted on July 3. The 23-year-old is off to a good start, going 7-for-14 at the plate with six RBI so far.
  • MIN Center Fielder #25
Byron Buxton went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Astros on Saturday.
Buxton knocked a base hit to lead off the third inning and scored on a two-run homer by Brooks Lee. He later extended the Twins’ lead with a two-run shot off Rafael Montero in the seventh inning. It was the ninth home run for the 30-year-old outfielder. He’s slashing .271/.324/.485 with 38 runs scored, 37 RBI, and five steals across 250 plate appearances.
  • HOU First Baseman #28
Jon Singleton went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer against the Twins on Saturday.
Singleton brought two of the Astros’ three runs in to score with a two-run blast off Joe Ryan in the fourth inning. Limited to a strong-side platoon against right-handed pitching, the 32-year-old is hitting .285 since the start of June. He’s up to seven homers on the season with a .710 OPS across 229 plate appearances.
  • MIN Starting Pitcher #41
Joe Ryan allowed three runs with eight strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Saturday.
Ryan pitched two clean frames before a pair of doubles brought a run in to score for Houston in the third. Jon Singleton then hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Ryan worked into the sixth before leaving with the bases loaded and two outs. He struck out eight on the day. The 28-year-old right-hander will take a 3.29 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and a 118/16 K/BB ratio across 109 1/3 innings into a start against the Giants in San Francisco on Friday.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #58
Hunter Brown allowed seven runs with five strikeouts over six innings in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.
Brown had quite the forgettable day on the mound as he surrendered seven runs to the Twins. The seven runs matched the total runs he’s allowed over his last eight starts combined. Three hits, a hit batter, and a sacrifice fly brought two runs in to score in the first. Minnesota brought three more runs in on four hits and a walk in the second. And Brooks Lee would hit a two-run homer in the third. Brown worked three more scoreless innings before his day was done at 105 pitches. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 4.48 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and a 100/36 K/BB ratio across 92 1/3 innings into a start against the Rangers in Houston on Friday.
  • HOU Left Fielder #44
Yordan Alvarez was removed from Saturday’s game against the Twins a couple of innings after he was plunked in the right knee by a pitch.
Alvarez remained in the game to run the bases for himself but was walking slowly and hobbling as he made his way to first base. When his spot in the order came back around in the eighth inning, Grae Kessinger was sent out to pinch-hit for him. The fact that the Twins had a six-run lead at the time may have played a role in his removal, but be sure to pay close attention to his status after the game and prior to Sunday’s contest.
  • SEA Center Fielder #44
Julio Rodriguez was removed from Saturday’s ballgame against the Blue Jays in the first inning due to an apparent injury.
No word yet on what exactly occurred, but Rodriguez was pinch-hit for by Ty France the first time that he strolled to the plate in the home half of the first inning. Expect the Mariners to provide an update on the superstar outfielder’s status as soon as more information is available.
  • NYY Catcher #93
Ben Rice went 3-for-5 with three homers and seven RBI to power the Yankees to a 14-4 win over the Red Sox on Saturday.
What a day for the rookie. Starting at first base and hitting leadoff, Rice got the scoring started with a solo blast off Josh Winckowski in the first inning. He later launched his second homer of the game, a three-run shot off Chase Anderson in part of a seven-run fifth inning for New York. Rice then went yard for a third time with another three-run homer in the seventh. The 25-year-old is off to an impressive start with the Yankees, slashing .294/.383/.588 with four homers and 12 RBI across 60 plate appearances.
  • NYY Center Fielder #24
Alex Verdugo went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer and two runs scored against the Red Sox on Saturday.
Verdugo launched a two-run homer off Josh Winckowski in the third inning, then knocked a base hit in the fifth before scoring on a bases loaded walk as the Yankees brought seven runs in to score in the frame. The 28-year-old outfielder is hitting .246/.302/.401 with ten homers and 45 RBI across 364 plate appearances.
  • BOS Third Baseman #11
Rafael Devers went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI against the Yankees on Saturday.
Devers knocked a base hit in the third inning to put the Red Sox on the board. He then stole second and scored on a single by Masataka Yoshida. Devers later took Gerrit Cole deep with a solo homer in the fifth. The 27-year-old third baseman is up to 19 homers while slashing .286/.372/.568 with 54 runs scored and 53 RBI across 333 plate appearances.
