Shawn Armstrong will start the game but then Alexander will take over for bulk work. It’s not a bad change for Alexander since coming in as the bulk reliever doesn’t require him to pitch five innings in order to qualify for the win. It’s a role we saw Ryan Yarbrough thrive in with the Rays in the past and makes Alexander an intriguing streamer in deeper formats.

The save was Williams’ ninth of the year. He looked like his old dominant self as he struck out the side in order. His changeup was as devastating as ever. Williams has a 1.84 ERA this year. It’s becoming apparent that he’s going to be one of the top closing options in fantasy for the rest of this year and 2025.

Contreras’ home run was his 21st of the season. He hit a two-run shot off Ty Blach in the third inning. Conteras has four home runs and eight RBI in his last 11 games. He’s hitting .278 with an .823 OPS and 82 RBI on the year.

The home run was Adames’ 30th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Ty Blach in the first inning. He has 18 stolen bases on the year now. Adames is hitting .253 with an .808 OPS and 101 RBI this season. He might lack notoriety, but Adames has been a fantasy stud this year.

Blach gave up six hits, walked none and struck out one. It’s the third time in his last four starts that he’s allowed at least five runs. Blach was hit hard as he allowed home runs to Willy Adames, Gary Sanchez and William Contreras. He has a 6.94 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 71 1/3 innings this year. Blach is off the fantasy radar. The 33-year-old left-hander is set to face the Tigers on the road next week.

Myers gave up four hits, walked one and struck out 11. The win was his seventh of the year. Myers has been outstanding for a good portion of the season. His 2.22 ERA since June 1st is third among starting pitchers. Myers has a 2.93 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 112 strikeouts in 120 innings on the season. The 26-year-old right-hander is set to face the Giants on the road next week.

The right-hander struck out five and allowed just one hit. Assuming deGrom checks out well after the outing, this was his final rehab appearance, and the expectation is the 36-year-old will make his next start as a member of the Rangers. There will always be injury risk here, but the risk will carry a considerable amount of reward with it.

Biggio was signed by the Giants after he was designated for assignment and refused an outright assignment to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 29-year-old will be able to potentially help Atlanta in the regular season, but Atlanta will need to do some finagling to get him on a playoff roster since he wasn’t in the organization before August 31. There’s no fantasy upside here even if Biggio were to play every game.

Santana went 0-for-2 before exiting. The 38-year-old was replaced in the lineup by Kyle Farmer. Santana should be considered day-to-day with a good chance to be back in the lineup in the coming days.

Correa talked to Rosenthal on Saturday, and that the last two days have been the best he’s felt running. He also acknowledged that there’s no set timetable, and that because plantar fasciitis is such a “weird” injury, there could be a setback at anytime. There’s still three weeks left in the year so a return seems very plausible, but fantasy managers will have to remain patient and can’t rely on Correa to be back in the lineup anytime (relatively) soon.

Hurter, who came in with two outs in the first, got the win despite opposing starter Brady Basso pitching six scoreless innings. Fortunately for Hurter, the Tigers scored twice in the top of the seventh, putting him in line for the win even though he was done for the day. Hurter has won each of his last four appearances, which includes one start and three bulk outings. His stuff is average at best, but he’s getting grounders and avoiding walks. It’s led to a 3.00 ERA through 33 innings. He’ll probably face the Orioles next, unless maybe the Tigers decide to push back Tarik Skubal and let Hurter face the Rockies in Detroit instead. That’d make him much more viable in fantasy leagues.
