White Sox recalled OF Zach DeLoach from Triple-A Charlotte.
He’s making his major league debut. DeLoach was batting .263/.369/.343 for Charlotte, though he was doing better than that in recent weeks. He hit .286/.387/.481 for Seattle’s Triple-A club last year, which is why the White Sox wanted him in the Gregory Santos trade this spring. The White Sox might as well give him a look in right field against righties while Eloy Jiménez is out, though Corey Julks will probably cut into his time.

The Mets are signing Chris Devenski to a minor league deal, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.
He’ll compete for a bullpen spot next spring. Devenski was cut loose by the Rays after posting a 6.75 ERA in 19 appearances this season, and though he was quite successful for Seattle’s Triple-A team afterwards (2.35 ERA, 31 K in 23 IP), the Mariners never did give him a shot.

Shohei Ohtani is in the lineup for the Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series, batting lead off as the DH.
There was some concern that Ohtani would miss this game after he injured his shoulder while sliding into second base in Game 2. The Dodgers did say on Sunday that he was trending in the right direction, and the team will in fact have their star ready to go. While there could be some risk of re-aggravation and perhaps Ohtani doesn’t steal as much the rest of the series, we shouldn’t expect much of a dip in production, which is great news for Dodgers fans.
  • CIN First Baseman #33
Reds activated 1B Christian Encarnacion-Strand and INF Matt McLain from the 60-day injured list.
Both CES and McLain were technically on rehab assignments in the Arizona Fall League, and since they were expiring, the Reds needed to activate them now, as opposed to after the World Series like the rest of the 60-day IL guys.

Reds designated LHP Brandon Leibrandt for assignment.
Leibrandt made two appearances for the Reds this season, giving up seven runs over 6 1/3 innings in his first major league action since 2020. He’ll clear waivers and likely become a minor league free agent.
  • FA Shortstop #38
Reds designated INF/OF Amed Rosario for assignment.
Rosario was already going to be a free agent after the World Series, so this is just a paper move because the Reds needed to make space on the 40-man roster to activate Matt McLain from the 60-day IL, as his rehab assignment in the Arizona Fall League expired. Rosario has solid numbers overall on the season, hitting .280 with three home runs and 13 steals in 332 at-bats, but he struggled with the Reds after being signed late in the year.
  • NYY Catcher #39
Jose Trevino is starting behind the plate and batting eighth for the Yankees in Game 3 of the World Series on Monday.
The Yankees will run out the exact same lineup except for Trevino starting for Austin Wells, who has gone just 4-for-41 this postseason with a 41 percent strikeout rate. Trevino has had issues controlling the running game this season, so that will be something to keep an eye on tonight.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts told Karl Ravech of ESPN that Shohei Ohtani (shoulder) is in “great shape” and will be ready to play in Game 3 of the World Series against the Yankees on Monday.
Ohtani hurt his shoulder on a slide into second base on a steal attempt in the eighth inning of the Game 2 win for the Dodgers, and appeared to be in significant pain. The 30-year-old superstar appears to have avoided the worst, and he should hit at the top of the lineup Monday against the Yankees and Clarke Schmidt in New York.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
Shohei Ohtani suffered a subluxation of his left shoulder in Game 2 of the World Series.
Ohtani suffered the injury while sliding into second base on a steal attempt in the seventh inning. For those scoring at home, a subluxation is a partial dislocation. However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that they’re encouraged by Ohtani’s strength and range of motion. He’ll undergo further testing on his shoulder tomorrow and the Dodgers will know more about his availability once they get the scans back. Ohtani is paramount to the Dodgers’ success and losing him for any amount of time now would be at best unfortunate and at worst catastrophic, but the initial signs seem positive based on what Roberts told the media.

Aaron Judge went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Judge’s swing looks broken. John Smoltz correctly pointed out on the FOX broadcast that Judge’s front hip is flying open too early, which is preventing him from driving the ball. That’s if he were to make contact. Judge is now 6-for-40 with 19 strikeouts in the playoffs. That’s a 47 percent strikeout percentage, which is nearly twice as high as the 24 percent strikeout percentage he had during the regular season. He’s 1-for-9 with six strikeouts already in the World Series. The Yankees absolutely need Judge to break out of this funk if they’re going to get back in the series after falling behind 2-0, but he doesn’t look close to doing that at the moment.
  • NYY Left Fielder #22
Juan Soto went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored against the Dodgers on Saturday.
Soto crushed his fourth home run of the playoffs. It was a solo shot off Yoshinobu Yamamoto in the third inning that left his bat at 105.4 mph exit velocity and traveled 386 feet. Soto also started the Yankees rally in the ninth inning with a single off Dodgers closer Blake Treinen. He’s hitting .350 with a 1.160 OPS and nine RBI in the playoffs. Soto will become a free agent shortly after the World Series and is poised to sign the largest contract for a position player in baseball history.
