  • CHC Third Baseman #16
Patrick Wisdom went 3-for-4 with a home run in the Cubs’ win over the Pirates on Sunday.
Wisdom laced a solo home run off Aroldis Chapman in the 10th inning that traveled 412 feet and left the bat at 106.8 mph. He also had a 105.5 mph single off Bailey Falter earlier in the game. The Cubs are only using him against left-handed pitching but that has helped his results so far this season, so he can be useful in deeper formats if the Cubs face a collection of lefties in a given week.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #42
Seth Lugo fanned 10 over seven innings as the Royals shut out the Yankees 5-0 on Tuesday.
It’s been quite a bounce back for Lugo after a bad month; he had a 6.25 ERA in six starts from July 27-Aug. 25, but he’s allowed just two runs in 21 innings since. He’s now 16-8 with a 2.94 ERA in MLB-high 193 innings, which is a remarkable total for a former reliever whose previous high in innings was 146 1/3.
  • NYY Starting Pitcher #0
Marcus Stroman yielded three runs in 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in a loss to the Royals.
Stroman might be the Yankees rotation’s weakest link at the moment, even though he’s been perfectly respectable in going 10-8 with a 4.07 ERA to date. Since the Yankees are using six starters this time through and have next Monday off, Stroman figures to go a week between starts. On the plus side, that means he’ll be facing the Mariners in Seattle, making him a better play than he would have been against the Red Sox this weekend.
  • NYY Right Fielder #99
Aaron Judge finished 0-for-4 with two strikeouts Tuesday against the Royals.
It seems like many have already dug in on Judge being the AL MVP over Bobby Witt Jr., but if Judge has a September like his April, things will have to change. He’s now gone 14 straight games without a homer, having hit .196 during the span.
  • NYY First Baseman #48
Anthony Rizzo went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts against the Royals on Tuesday.
Rizzo is hitting .167/.219/.233 in nine games since returning from his fractured forearm. The Yankees will probably just stick with him and hope for the best, as they did with Alex Verdugo for so long, but it should be noted that Ben Rice just homered in three straight games in Triple-A. Giving Verdugo a crash course at first base might make sense, too.
  • OAK Second Baseman #20
Zack Gelof went 2-for-5 with a solo homer in the A’s 4-3 win over the Astros on Tuesday.
Gelof took Spencer Arrighetti deep for a solo homer to lead off the second inning. He added a base hit in the fourth, then later started the 12th as the runner on second before scoring on a bunt to put the A’s ahead. The 24-year-old second baseman is hitting .211/.273/.376 with 17 homers, 56 runs scored, 45 RBI, and 23 steals across 481 plate appearances.
  • HOU Second Baseman #27
Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with two RBI and a walk against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Altuve drew a walk in the third inning, then drove in a run with a base hit in the seventh to tie the game. He led off the bottom of the 12th with a double to make it a one-run game before the Astros fell short in the loss. The 34-year-old second baseman is slashing .304/.359/.452 with 19 homers, 86 runs scored, 62 RBI, and 20 steals across 622 plate appearances.
  • OAK Starting Pitcher #38
JP Sears tossed six scoreless innings with one strikeout in a no-decision against the Astros on Tuesday.
Sears was excellent against a tough Astros lineup, holding them scoreless across six innings of work. He scattered four hits and two walks, striking out just one batter. The 28-year-old left-hander will take a 4.18 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and a 123/43 K/BB ratio across 163 2/3 innings into a start against the White Sox in Chicago on Sunday.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #41
Spencer Arrighetti allowed two runs with seven strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Athletics on Tuesday.
Arrighetti gave up a run in the first inning on two hits and a sacrifice fly. He then surrendered a solo homer to Zack Gelof to lead off the second inning. Arrighetti then settled in to hold the A’s off the board into the seventh, leaving with two outs in the frame at 97 pitches with seven strikeouts. The 24-year-old right-hander will take a 4.72 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, and a 158/61 K/BB ratio across 131 2/3 innings into a start against the Padres in San Diego on Monday.
  • PHI Shortstop #7
Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in a 9-4 win over the Rays on Tuesday.
It was quite a day for Turner, who is now up to 18 home runs and 55 RBI in 104 games to go along with 15 steals and a .299/.345/.474 triple slash. The 31-year-old is undoubtedly still a strong hitter, but he is on track to set a career-low in stolen bases by a lot (ignoring the COVID-shortened 2020 season) and he could also reach his lowest home run total since 2019. Injuries have played a part in some of that, but you also have to wonder if the advancing age and loss of his lead-off spot in the order will have an impact on his stolen base totals going forward.
  • PHI First Baseman #3
Bryce Harper went 4-for-5 with three doubles in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.
Surprisingly, those four hits led to no RBI and no runs scored, but that was in part because Trea Turner was driving in everybody himself. We haven’t quite seen the power that we’re used to seeing out of Harper, with the 31-year-old hitting 26 home runs in 129 games after hitting at least 34 in three straight full seasons from 2018-2021. He also only has five steals on the year after stealing double-digit bags in five straight non-COVID seasons. Whether fantasy managers believe that carries over into next season or not will have a big impact on his 2025 ADP.
