Drew Rom underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery last week.
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol indicated that it’s not necessarily season-ending for Rom, but he’s going to wind up being sidelined until the late stages of the year. There’s a chance he’s back for a handful of appearances at some point in September.
  • MIL Right Fielder #10

Sal Frelick went 2-for-3 with a double against the Marlins on Sunday.
Hold Muncy if placed on injured list
Eric Samulski advises fantasy managers to "hold" Max Muncy if placed on the injured list, who has produced in a big way since the beginning of May, and discusses the outlook for Dodgers' call-up Esteury Ruiz.
  • MIL Right Fielder #11
Jackson Chourio went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, a home run and three RBI against the Marlins on Sunday.
  • STL Center Fielder #11
Victor Scott II is not in the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Sunday night’s battle against the Cubs.
It looks to be nothing more than a routine night off for the speedy 24-year-old outfielder. Scott has done a decent job for the Cardinals this season, slashing .235/.319/.323 with four homers, 28 RBI and 22 stolen bases across 299 plate appearances. Garrett Hampson will draw a rare start in center field in his stead and will bat ninth against Cubs’ southpaw Matthew Boyd.
  • MIL Relief Pitcher #29
Trevor Megill tossed a perfect ninth inning and picked up the save against the Marlins on Sunday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #27
Edward Cabrera allowed two runs in seven innings and took the loss against the Brewers on Sunday.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #53
Brandon Woodruff allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Brewers’ 3-1 victory over the Marlins on Sunday.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #56
Seranthony Domínguez allowed a home run but secured a save in a 2-1 win over Atlanta on Sunday.
Felix Bautista had pitched in each of the last two games, so it was Domínguez who was given a chance to lock down the save on Sunday. He was given a two-run lead and did allow two hits, including a solo home run to Sean Murphy, but he did enough to claim his second save of the season. There is not a closer competition in Baltimore.
  • BAL 2nd Baseman #7
Jackson Holliday went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run in a win over the Braves on Sunday.
Holliday needed this one. The 21-year-old is having a strong season, but also came into the day hitting .223/.273/.331 in 30 games since June 1st with 38 strikeouts and nine walks. He’s up to 11 home runs on the season with 36 RBI and a .260 average, so the season itself has been great, but there will be some bumps along the way for a player who is so young. Perhaps this is a sign that he’s coming out of his cold spell.
  • ATL Catcher #12
Sean Murphy went 2-for-4 with a home run in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.
Murphy had a 106.1 mph double in the seventh inning of the game and then rocked a 411-foot solo home run in the ninth that left the bat at 103.6 mph. The veteran now has 13 home runs and 31 RBI on the season while splitting time with rookie Drake Baldwin. There have been some trade rumors swirling around Murphy, and a new home might be best for his fantasy value. It’s tough to use him if he remains on the short side of a platoon in Atlanta.
  • ATL Starting Pitcher #66
Grant Holmes allowed two runs on four hits in six innings in a loss to the Orioles on Sunday.
Holmes struck out five and walked three, and the only real damage against him was a two-run home run allowed to Jackson Holliday in the third inning. Holmes got plenty of swings and misses today with 17 whiffs on 49 swings for a 35 percent whiff rate and 30 percent CSW. He struggled with his four-seam fastball command, but that’s his worst pitch, so he was able to cover it up with tremendous command of his cutter and plenty of whiffs on his slider. Holmes is on a good roll lately and is worth starting next week against the Cardinals.
