  • OAK Third Baseman
Athletics selected the contract of INF Brett Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas.
The 25-year-old infielder was ranked as the ninth best prospect in the A’s system by MLB Pipeline. He was off to a nice start at the Triple-A level, hitting .289/.418/.456 with three homers, 20 RBI, one stolen base and a 26/18 K/BB ratio over 110 plate appearances. Unfortunately for fantasy managers, Harris doesn’t really bring much to the table in terms of power or speed, as he clubbed just nine homers in the minor leagues in 2023 and has never stolen more than 11 bases in any minor league season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher #30
Grayson Rodriguez fanned eight while allowing three runs over six innings as the Orioles topped the A’s 6-3 on Sunday.
Rodriguez moved into a tie for the major league lead in wins, but since his 3.52 ERA isn’t especially great, he wasn’t picked for the All-Star Game today. He’ll make his final start before the break Saturday against the Yankees.
  • BAL Relief Pitcher #46
Craig Kimbrel recorded his 23rd save Sunday with a scoreless ninth against the A’s.
Kimbrel has been denied a 10th career All-Star nod, at least for now. His 2.10 ERA seemed worthy, and it’s sort of a surprise that Clay Holmes was picked over him, something that would have been more justifiable a couple of weeks ago. Kimbrel could have and still might become just the 11th pitcher to go to 10 All-Star Games. Clayton Kershaw is the only active pitcher in that club.
  • OAK Relief Pitcher #40
Mitch Spence gave up five runs — four earned — in six innings Sunday in a loss to the Orioles.
Two homers did in Spence today, but he again had a nice K/BB of 5/1, putting him at 23/4 in 22 2/3 innings over his last four starts. He’s unlikely to be a factor in mixed leagues at any point in the second half, but he looks like a legitimate starter for the A’s going forward, which is a nice get from the Rule 5 draft.
  • BAL Left Fielder #13
Heston Kjerstad hit a three-run homer in the victory over the A’s on Sunday.
Kjerstad was making just his second start in five games, which is the same number as Colton Cowser and one less than Austin Hays, even though four of those games were against righties. It’s pretty much impossible to trust either Kjerstad or Cowser in weekly leagues at this point, though either would likely be a useful mixed-league outfielder if the Orioles sent down the other.
  • MIL Right Fielder #22
Christian Yelich went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, three runs scored and three RBI on Sunday afternoon, leading the Brewers to a 9-2 rout over the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
Yelich opened the scoring in Sunday’s contest with a 418-foot (107.2 mph EV) two-run blast off of rookie left-hander Justin Wrobleski in the fourth inning. He then singled and scored on a two-run knock by Blake Perkins in the eighth inning. Yelich also tacked on an RBI double in the ninth and scored on a run-scoring double by Garrett Mitchell. He’s having an outstanding season in the middle of the Brewers’ lineup, slashing .329/.407/.533 with 11 homers, 41 RBI and 19 stolen bases.
  • MIL Catcher #13
Eric Haase crushed his first home run as a member of the Brewers on Sunday, helping to lead his squad to a lopsided victory over the Dodgers.
The 31-year-old backstop walloped a 374-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-run shot off of Justin Wrobleski in the fifth inning that extended the Brewers’ early lead to 4-0. He also led off the ninth inning with a single and raced around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Christian Yelich. With his two-hit attack, Haase is now hitting .455/.455/.727 with a homer and three RBI in his first 11 plate appearances with the Brewers.
  • MIL Starting Pitcher #60
Dallas Keuchel struggled with his command in a no-decision against the Brewers on Sunday, issuing five free passes over 4 1/3 innings of shutout baseball.
The 36-year-old southpaw also allowed three hits and didn’t strike out a batter in the contest. The five walks led to an elevated pitch count of 94 (42 strikes) through 4 1/3 innings, which cost Keuchel a shot at earning a victory in this one. He got just five swings and misses on the afternoon while registering a miserable CSW of only 21 percent. He’ll look to finish the first half strong as he carries a 4.61 ERA, 1.68 WHIP and a 9/8 K/BB ratio (13 2/3 innings) into Saturday’s matchup against the Nationals.
  • LAD Designated Hitter #17
Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-5 and stole a pair of bases as the Dodgers fell to the Brewers on Sunday afternoon in Los Angeles.
Ohtani smacked a one-out single off of Dallas Keuchel in the third inning then proceeded to swipe second and third base before getting stranded there. He has now eclipsed the 20-steal plateau for the third time in his career and has already matched his total from the 2023 season. The 30-year-old superstar is slashing .314/.399/.637 with 28 homers, 65 RBI and 20 stolen bases through his first 88 games with the Dodgers.
  • LAD Shortstop #3
Chris Taylor socked a two-run dinger on Sunday as the Dodgers fell to the Brewers in Los Angeles.
The 33-year-old utilityman got the Dodgers on the board in the sixth inning with a 403-foot (106.1 mph EV) two-run shot off of Jakob Junis. That would turn out to be the extent of their offense. Taylor also drew a walk in the contest, finishing the afternoon 1-for-3. He has struggled for the most part this season — slashing a mere .155/.262/.256 with three homers and 14 RBI in 150 plate appearances.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher
Justin Wrobleski struggled in a losing effort against the Brewers in his MLB debut on Sunday, giving up four runs on five hits over his five frames.
The rookie left-hander struck out four batters on the afternoon while issuing a pair of free passes. Wrobleski cruised through the first three innings unscathed until he served up a two-run homer to Christian Yelich in the fourth inning. He was also tagged by Eric Haase for a two-run shot in the fifth. Wrobleski generated nine swings and misses on 76 pitches on the afternoon, registering a CSW of 30 percent. It’s likely that he’ll head back to Triple-A Oklahoma City following this spot start.
